I have had some form of ibs for nearly 5 years now, and would like to share some very positive experiences after trial and error over the years. I have been diagnosed with slow transit, after having previously been normal, I had abdominal pain after a bowel movement, visceral pain sporadically and trapped lower abdominal wind pain, after eating certain fodmaps. In other words, I rarely did not have pain 👎 Diet alone did not help, Symprove was helpful and I lastly succumbed to Duloxetine which I thought was good to a point. However I then read about Triphala and slowly came off Duloxetine and stopped Symprove and have not looked back !
Still early days but great improvement, no pain, no side effects, I feel that my gut is now healing itself with some support. It may not suit everyone but I had to share my experience. I obtained it from a local herbalist as Holland and Barret don’t stock it.

Let us know how you get on, I was hesitant at first and was going on holiday so started for the first week taking only one capsule at night, then increased to 2 with no ill effects.
I heard great reports on this do wonder if taking probiotics make bloating worse than not taking it and certain ones have actually constipated me - keep updating on your progress with triphala I am sure we will all be watching how you go
"Although the limited data of clinical research of the role of TLP in the GI tract does not allow drawing a firm conclusion about its effectiveness for IBS patients, nevertheless there are some premises, which indicate its potential.
By virtue of its laxative qualities, TLP would not be helpful for diarrhea-predominant IBS (IBS-D) patients but its application is worth considering to patients with IBS-C. It is also possible that TLP can alleviate other symptoms experienced by patients, through the interaction of each constituent of TLP and gut microbiota; therefore supplementation of TLP herbal formulations alone or along with other probiotics should be taken into consideration in an ongoing clinical studies.
Contrary to pharmaceutical laxatives, which tend to stimulate the bowel, TLP has a regulating effect and can be used long-term. The large intestine is permanently exposed to various toxins, parasites, etc. therefore, it is important to provide adequate bowel cleansing.
Literature data indicate that TLP acts as a colon cleanser, which helps to clean the waste matter from the lower GI tract and improve its proper functioning [12, 88].
To sum up, TLP can be particularly helpful if constipation is a symptom, but it can also be useful in some cases of alternating constipation. Relevant cell culture and animal studies, and rationally designed clinical trials are required to uncover the potential of TLP, understand its mechanism of action and determine permissible dose that could be incorporated along with patient’s therapy and assess side effects, which may appear over its longer administration."
My daughter recommended it to me and I'm on my 4th bottle. It does seem to help me. I teeter between IBS-C and IBS-D ( although, my "D" is just really sticky, soft poop). I've never been "regular" and this seems to help. I ran it by my PCP, just to make sure it didn't interfere with my meds).
I did not take duloxetine for ibs. I was prescribed it for pudendal neuropathy which means unwanted orgasms which make you scream out loud in pain not pleasure. It stopped them miraculously but I never noticed any improvement in ibs. Sounds like you have ibs c whereas mine is the d variety. I take slippery elm at three am which helps greatly. I will look into this triphala. Con amore
