Is it IBS???

Im 50 M UK, I had been experiencing bloating in late 2022. In Dec 2022 Dr prescribed Macro-Bid for a bladder infection. My tummy reacted terribly, with very loud gargling, sore and uncomfortable, and bowel movement very loose. I have had X2 Fit and X2 Calprotection tests Jan & Feb 28 days apart; all clear, I have had a CT colonography all clear. Symptoms were terrible however they have settled and bowel movements are back to normal. My current symptoms as at 2nd May.......after waking I feel no pain & no discomfort. After a light lunch of toast and marmalade, I have pain in my lower abdomen 2 inches below my belly button. After an evening meal, it gets slightly worse with the usual gargling. I go to bed at about 10 pm and the process resets for the next day. As the tests are clear is there a condition that would explain these symptoms other than IBS?? I am considering going privately for a colonoscopy, it may well be IBS but the pain is not "crampy" it is more like hotness, interestingly when I poke around in the sore area I can not get a severe pain response.

With tests you have, would NHS fund colonoscopy?. Have you asked via your GP ?. My GP requested colonoscopy but hospital rejected his application. The same thing happened to me though i have iron anaemia but repeatedly negative qfits. I therefore paid endoscopy privately. Colonoscopy and gastroscopy picked up diseases that virtual ct didnt mention. Diverticulitis and gastritis, stomach polyps and hernia. Im on specific drug now to aid motility gut issues. Thank god i had the money for tests . Good luck.

What are you taking for your diverticular disease?

Constella Linaclotide 29Omc. Private gastroenterologist prescribed it to counter motility gut issues. I presume its for the diverticulitis too though im not sure, though the pain is still bad. It is expensive but he managed to get me on long term NHS prescription.

I take that as well. I find 290mc way to harsh so I empty the powder out, make a line using a peice of card and then just take a qtr of it. Even that can be too much sometimes. I still have pain though, it does nothing for that and too much can make the pain even worse
