sciatica and no urge to move bowel

having been diagnosed with sciatica and now I’m lying in bed wondering right now how the heck I’m going to get out, and now I’m needing the loo!! I’m glad I’ve a sense of humour at these times!

my problem so far is the doctor has said I have lost the urge to poo because of where the pain is coming from! What makes that even worse is I’d need a mri scan to see what’s going on which would be fine but I have a pacemaker so that needs to be taken out first!

im in total agony if I move right now

I normally take a binder because I have bile acid diarrhoea

Merry Christmas 🎄

What a tough situation for you. My husband has sciatica and he is in agony at times. I have heart issues, arrhythmias and bowel issues so all in all we understsnd your upset. Just anted to empathise and hope things improve as the day goes on somehow some way. Wishing you all the best at Christmas and for some successful help for you in the new year.

thank you so much for your reply I’m finding the beginning of the day and the end the worst times, I’m fine if I keep moving. I’m just dreading going to bed each night. I’ve been told it can disappear as quickly as it appeared, I so hope so. I hope you had a lovely Christmas too Jen

I understand too, as sometimes that happens to me out of the blue. I can also get sciatica at times. At the moment for me, no sciatica fingers crossed, but I do get a queer feeling just before a BM in the morning of some lower back pain and numbness in lowest left part of belly, groin and upper thigh. That comes and goes, and passes after a BM.

Sometimes when I get no urge to go, I sit on the toilet anyway to keep a regular routine, but I am not constipated, stool is a bit too soft. I can't understand why there is no urge when stool is too soft, and when I am ever so slightly constipated, or normal, there is a normal urge a.m.

I hope you didn't have too much stress or disruption of routine or diet this Christmas. That can happen at this time of year, and can definitely mess with IBS.

Wish you all the best for Christmas and the holiday.
