Get checked out by the doctor they are used to checking such things and they can recommend things you can do if it is piles. I find having a small amount of virgin olive oil helps - it lubricates things. Just start off with a teaspoon with a meal once a day and then up it to a tablespoon if needed.

The best thing to take is about 600 to 1000mg of magnesium citrate or oxide on an empty stomach before bed with lots of water. This works great, naturally and is effective. My colorectal consultant recommended it as well. Look up information on magnesium and constipation. If I don't take it I don't go.

There are other magnesium products for the colon that are excellent although more expensive but worth it. They are in order of my preference, Oxypowder, Aerobic Mag07 and Colosan. You can get them on Amazon or a place called the Finchley clinic. They are very helpful and you can call for advice. Hope this helps.

Ifind the only way to remove my first stools which are solid lumps - diverticular disease is to lubricate my finger and force it out . 20 mins later a normal poo follows - HELL OF A LIFE - 76 years old- poor old sod

Have you tried ordinary bran available from Holland & Barrett. It is just simple natural fibre - start with 1 heaped teaspoon a day ( mix with milk etc.) And work up to 3 spoons as you find how it works. Good luck
