Did your gp send you for blood tests? If not request blood tests and also a referral to see a dermatologist. Hope you get sorted soon.

PLEASE insist on a derm referral. We r currently in our 2nd week of treating scabies which was contracted from a stay in a hotel. It's been hell, not just with the horrendous itching and creaming from head to toe but the daily extra laundry, cleaning, spraying surfaces with mite killers. Please get help soon

Did the GP diagnose this?As others have suggested I would contact the surgery by phone and ask to speak to the GP and request a Dermatology referral .

Have they given you any treatment or advice?

Scabies and Eczema can be too very different kettles of fish and happen for different reasons. It's important to know if it has been caused by an infection or allergies , or even dehydration or vitamin deficiencies which can be common with conditions like IBS.

Dry Skin , is also a big problem in itself , and will happen despite good skin care with health problems that can cause skin dehydration and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. IBS is one of those conditions as you can lose a lot of water with either constipation or diarrhea and it can cause poor absorption of vitamins and minerals . Very dry skin or skin rashes are often an early warning of nutrient deficiencies.

I hope you follow it up , as the advice people could give you which they use themselves to help relieve your symptoms is quite different for Scabies and Eczema.

Good luck ! I’ve got the same problem. I had it 6 years ago - dermatologist did heaps of tests and a course of light therapy. Finally what worked was a tablet Azathirene which I took ( it knocked out the immune system so I voluntarily came off it when COVID came along. Now,6years later it’s back and I can’t get back on the tablets tillIve seen a dermatologist - I’ve been waiting 8 months for an appointment. I just hope you manage to get yours sorted faster than me. My GP doesn’t want to know -he’s put me on steroids they don’t really help and give me a sore mouth.

I agree with you that it doesn't sound like "dry skin". I know it's hard to ignore it when your condition is downplayed like that.

As others have said you need a diagnosis so you can get to the treatment phase. So, dermatologist referral sounds smart.
