After having an hiatus hernia repaid in October 2021 I started with diarrhoea 14 times a day for 8 weeks lost a lot of weight and diagnosed me with small bacterial overgrowth that was treated and then to severe constipation for 2 months with hardly no movements to the point I could taste the faces in when I was vomiting after some time I started with diarrhoea again and now currently back to constipation the doc has prescribed prucalopride but I'm too afraid to take it in case I am constantly on the loo as I work on the phone on a laptop and desktop so can't keep going to the loo.

Can anyone tell me how long this medication takes to get working please

Hi,

I have taken prucalopride for a few years now and the best time I find to take it, is just before I go to bed, and it then tends to work overnight so I go to the toilet the next morning. Could you try it one night when you are not working the next day, just to be sure that you can spend as much time in the toilet the next morning as needed? When I first started taking it, I had a few side effects, a headache & a couple of urgent toilet trips but that soon settled down and it has been a really helpful drug for me. Good luck 😀
