I have found that this drug doesn't seem to like working on its own. I take it with a plethora of other, prescribed, laxatives.

can you please tell me what lax are you taking?

I have been suffering with chronic constipation for years now and have tried pretty much every medication the doctors have offered.

Procalopride was one of those but I also found it to be ineffective - think it worked for the first couple of days.

Now I take dulcolax (bisacodyl) daily before bed and whilst it doesn’t always work I find it to be more consistent (I also have a milky coffee in the morning which is often a trigger to go).

Currently 7 months pregnant and living through the worst constipation I have ever experienced despite taking bisacodyl daily.

i'm sorry you 'r experiencing such bad symptoms , pregnancy can definitely make it worse , is dulcolax more effective taken before bed?

I used to take dulcolax for a few years but I changed to macrogol on recommendation by nurse in hospital. I take 1 sachet in morning and one layer in day and it's mad a massive difference to my life. I was always bloated and uncomfortable but it only happens occasionally now. I think some laxatives stop working after a while in my experience.

I find the same is true of Trulance. It works inconsistently.

May I relate to you a simple addition I have made to my diet. For over a year I have read the deal about 2 kiwis a day. I paid no attention. I thought one day that maybe I should pay more attention. I began eating those kiwis. I have found great improvement in bowel movements. I was born constipated.

Hi,

I was given this over two years ago and initially found it didn’t work, then I was told I should have been taking it with the bisacodyl ( not instead of, as I had previously been told!) and once I started taking them together, just before bed, I found they worked brilliantly. I’m just starting to struggle a little, the combination is not as good as it was, so I’ve upped the bisacodyl to three tablets along with the prucalopride, until I see my Gastroenterologist next month. I hope this helps you/ good luck 😀
