Colonoscopy result

Would gastroenterologist tell me if some nasty was found straight after colonoscopy?. I was handed a report indicating diverticulitis and biopsies taken to exclude microscopic colitis. No mention of polyps or masses I briefly asked him about results. He just said the scope went well!. Thanks

Hi Tony. If they find polyps it would go on the report. They usually remove them at the time of the colonoscopy, unless they are very small. If any biopsies we’re taken then they would have told you. They are sent off to the lab for analysis.

My colonoscopy was very similar to yours & no follow up needed.

Best wishes Ally 😊

Thanks for replying. So taking biopsies is common if microscopic colitis is possible?.

it appears that is what was done in your report. You could contact the colonoscopy department & ask them if they could explain their findings & if it’s common to do this

Hope all’s well with the results.

Yes, I think you are right. This happened to me too. A few biopsies, nothing else found, and I do indeed have microscopic colitis.

in reply toBabsyWabsy

Okay. Thanks. I will ask at next appointment.

Hi Tony my report showed polyp was retrieved. I got my letter from the hospital 5 weeks later saying it was ok but have to go back in a years time for another colonoscopy. I found the best way to get information is to phone the consultant secretary. Also your doctor at your surgery can explain your results.

Okay. Thanks. Best wishes.

I wish these professionals would take time to talk to their patients rather than just hand you a report. I would get your gp to discuss

im afraid Gp not very helpful. i paid 2k for procedure and he was just rushing around.

i had 5 polyps removed and was shown them by the young lady who undertook the procedure she said as far as she was concerned they are all benign but they would be sent for analysis. When my hubby came to pick me up it was all explained again and i would receive the results in 3 weeks which i did confirming all okay. I will have another colonoscopy next year.

in reply toKrisbetty

Its good she explained things to both.

They normally let you know immediately if they find anything and follow it up with apt. Sounds like they have identified what you have, you just need to wait for biospy results regarding the other issue and get guidance on managing the diverticulitis.

Follow up meeting is two Weeks. i need answers and pain management

yes they generally tell you if they found any polyps or masses, and take the polyps off if they can while they are there for biopsies. Diverticulitis can be really bad, I hope you are feeling better soon.

in reply toIBSsucksallthetime

Thanks. The pain is awful..There must be something they can do.

I hope so! Did you change your diet for the confirmed Diverticulitus? No chips, nuts, seeds, or anything small that can get stuck or caught in the folds? My friend had it and that definately helped him.

As for the rest, it sure does seem like the dr should be able to do something-ANYthing, I know that personally. I’m in USA and my husband and I are constantly saying the same thing for IBS. Never any results. I can amazingly say after all this time, I’m finally feeling and seeing some relief I am happy with! However it didn’t come from waiting for them, but bugging them over and over again about what is the plan and what can be done when that medication, plan or test failed. Also I just started a Sibo treatment.

Thanks for replying. I hadn't eaten properly for several Years becuase of sickness and pain, the diverticulitis i presume was just a coinciding finding i eat blended soup and eggs and nutritional shakes. I gave a copy of my colonoscopy report to my GPS Secretary and i guess its just filed. No stops pulled out. They've been reluctant to do any tests to he franck. They just wanted to prescribe laxatives and pain killers. Thats why i paid for a private colonoscopy because our health care system is malfunctioning. Im hoping this gastroenterologist is on the ball as i seem to connect . This sibo ive read about. Also ileocecal valve problems. wishing wellness.
