After my colonoscopy yesterday i felt relieved with the report saying "No evidence of cancer seen on this endoscopy" i was told they removed 1 polyp and took 8 biopsies.
Today after the sedation wore off i read my report which confirmed 8 biopsies taken but stated " Colonic polyp and 1s polyp at distal transeverse 1-2mm which where removed
i was told no further screening would be required unless 5 or 6 where found
I have read the polyps would be examined now im scared they will be cancerous or come back.
My calprotectin has come back raised 107 and 115 however i do not have symptoms of IBD no bleeding.No inflammation was seen on ct scan or colonoscopy nor do i see any mucus
Does anyone know anything about polyps or come across this ? Can i have IBS ?

Just to add my first bowel movement was lots of thin strips and a pale brown no blood.Still got gurgling going on and a few cramps after the procedure is this normal?
Hi george, my sister had polyps removed during a colonoscopy & biopsies several years ago they were fine she was later told she had ibs. Also a friend of mine always has very high calprotectin levels & also has ibs.x
They can take 4 to 6 wks but they only let you know if anything is wrong. Were you sent from your gp or did a hospital specialist arrange your colonoscopy.
Gastro locum ordered it.Been moved to another Gastro in the same hospital. Can they tell if a polyp is cancerous when the remove it i wonder? Wondering why the report said no cancer.
Dont think they can tell for definite if polyp in cancerous, but it is normal for them to take biopsies. Both myself & my partner had several colonoscopy over the years. The report will.mean there is no cancer in your bowel, which is really good.
So they can be precancerous not cancerous at that size do you think? Is it normal after the procedure still to have wind and a bit of pain the day after.My 1st BM was long and thin strips and a light brown no blood is that normal? Sorry to ask so many questions
Congratulations! I knew you could do it. And everything sounds pretty normal as well. No one likes the waiting game they make you do, but that's pretty normal too, and chances are pretty good that they won't show anything. Hang in there.
The wait is not to cause anxiety, but there are only so many labs which do analysis of this kind, so if you multiply the number of people potentially having colonoscopies any day, they ALL have to be screened-I am very grateful there are people who do this screening for a living-I wouldn't be able to do it, so I think we just have to be patient, and if your surgeon, who will be very experienced in these things, saw anything he thought might be suspicious, it would be fast tracked. No news is good news! Take a good probiotic, like Actimel now in the morning, to build your good bacteria up again, plenty of fibre And fluids, and do try not to focus on your gut!
Hi, I think you did really well yesterday as I know you were quite scared of this whole thing.
I hate the way we are kept waiting for results. Seems designed to keep our anxiety on high alert doesn't it? I hate waiting for any results of tests.
Those very tiny polyps (1-2mm) I am sure haven't had time to turn cancerous, if ever they would have done. That is very very tiny.
I admit I don't know everything about bowel cancer though, but that's my thinking anyway.
I am sure if they had seen anything that they thought was suspect, that would have been on the findings that they let you know about.
It is routine to have polyps, to have them removed because it's possible they can turn into cancer at a later date, and to have the biopsies. Polyps are very common especially as we age. They can be absolutely huge , enough to cause problems with motility, and still not be cancerous.
I'm not sure what "1s polyp" means. I wonder if it's "1 small"?
The "distal transverse colon" is the part where the transverse (the part that goes across your middle and up a bit near the spleen) meets the "distal" part (the part that goes down towards the rectum.)
I know there's no way you can completely take your mind off thinking about it, but I hope until you get the results you will be okay and be able to get on with life as much as you can.
I am not surprised your gut is a bit upset today. It's only a day since the colonoscopy. Your gut will feel sore, windy and temperamental. The prep is not what the gut is used to. Do you take a probiotic? That might help settle things a bit. All your friendly bacteria will have been flushed. Give it a few days and I hope your tummy will settle.
If you do it before a procedure, all you're going to get is random horror stories from random individuals, as well as a list of side effects as long as your arm (which are really just a way for big pharma companies to cover their legal arses).
Medical reports of the procedure, however, are another matter entirely. Unless you're in the medical business yourself, they might as well be in another language (and they really love their acronyms as well).
I have another condition which was very difficult to diagnose and involved dozens of blood tests, each testing for more and more obscure things. The first thing I'd do with one of these results is sit down with Dr. Google and figure out what they heck it all meant.
Haha already done that couldnt find it.I do that with blood results.think ive had every test under the sun.Still no joy in finding out whats wrong with me
I had two polyps, in France , and thrn a week later got a letter saying they weren’t cancer. I think they check always, makes sense. I was told to have a colonoscopy in three years time. Which is a normal check as I have diverticula problems.
I had a colonoscopy on the eleventh of May this year. Two polyps removed, one they tattooed. Diverticulosis found, no biopsy results yet. Still have stomach issues. I'm assuming no news is good news. Did you get your report from the hospital I got nothing, only a leaflet on polyps. I got the other results from phoning my GP practice.
I had a polyp found with camera they looked at it and said non cancerous so they must be able to tell what they are looking at also has a biopsy done Told I’ve got ibs
They didnt say anything about the polys.Report just said no evidence of cancer during colonoscopy.Just worried after they examine them theyre cancerous.But i think by looking at them they can tell. Did you have a breathing tube down your throat? That's intubation-maybe it made things easier for you when sedated. I had a canula in the back of my hand, instead, it's probably what the surgeon prefers to work with.
