Biopsy results from Colonoscopy

I have just had my results of the samples taken on 12th June. No cancer thankfully. I have widespread diverticulitis which has aggravated my ' focal active colitis'. The colitis might be self-limiting. This was news to me as I didn't even know I had colitis. I have been referred back to my GP and they have asked him/her to monitor my symptoms, I had to laugh as this is never going to happen. So I assume it will be very much the case of self-management, which appears to be the norm amongst the posters here. I hope you are all coping well.

Yes that’s definitely my experience, and no management plan or follow up, and I feel as though they think I’m a hypochondriac if I ever ask for anything. Good luck, this group is a hive of information but you’ll spend the rest of your days googling possible causes and cures!

I thought I probably wouldn't be the only one cut adrift. Many thanks for your reply.

Hi good news you don’t have cancer wb54 that is a relief as I was told I had pancreatic cancer only to be told We made a mistake it’s really IBS All that because I lost weight You are right you will have to self manage colitis unless your practice run a colitis clinic which is hardly likely so like me monitor yourself and prompt your doctor from time to time I dislike contacting them at all because of their ‘mistake’ You couldn’t write it could you? Oh well onwards and upwards We live to fight another day safe in the knowledge that we don’t have the big C I was made to feel that IBS was like a consolation prize Many screamed Sue your GP but one flaw there as the compensation wouldn’t come from the offending GP’s pocket but the already severely cash strapped NHS

Take care keep well and good luck with the monitoring

I am glad they made a mistake, though it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I had to see my GP yesterday for a steroid injection, 10 months late admittedly, I mentioned my concerns. The usual mantra, you come to expect from the GP these days. Put it on an Econsult form, but we are very busy and it isn't life-threatening anyway. With the rise in COVID cases, it wouldn't surprise me if my surgery went ex-directory. I, like you, and many others are now just in DIY mode when it comes to monitoring this and other health issues.

All the very best to you.

And to you fellow warrior These conditions challenge but won’t defeat us Our strength of character and our clarity of vision makes us equal adversaries to what ails us I hope that you are feeling relief from your overdue steroid injection Although not pleasant they do bring respiteEnjoy the cooler weather and keep well
