Alverine Citrate

Has anyone been prescribed Alverine Citrate and if so did it help My symptoms are getting worse instead of better,I'm going away next week and I feel so down , struggling with constipation and severe bloating Will it ever calm down ☹️

I’ve never tried it sorry. Your bloating could be a result of constipation. What have you tried to help clear the constipation?

Laxitives given by the GP and things like prunes , fybogel and now trying inulin

Be careful with inulin. It’s highly fermentable so can cause gas, pain and bloating. 2 kiwis a day can have really good results for constipation as well as magnesium citrate capsules.

alverine does nothing for me, I take mebeverine now which sometimes helps

I take Alverine and it worked for me for a while in the beginning but not so much now 😮‍💨 I take the full dose of 3 lots of 2 tablets a day and if I forget or slack with them I know about it. I'd say for me they help more so with the pain aspect than the diarrhoea and bloating.

I wouldn't say they do massively. I'd say maybe a small percentage of a difference but on the whole it's more the pain aspect. X

Its my first day of taking them today and i have noticed i havent had an urgency since this morning but i dont really suffer with the pain part unless im in a flare anyway when a cramp comes on it lasts for a minute or so then subsides. I need something that helps with the urgency of it 😔 x

I take it only when I have a flare and it seems to work for me.

Movicol is great taken 20 mins before food… it helps with the cramps
