spasmonal (alverine citrate for constipation

hi has anyone tried this for constipation as I’m still struggling with constipation which leans on my bowel due to long redundant loops if my bowel. Apparently Spasmonal helps with spasms for the bowel and uterus I haven’t got a uterus anymore but might help bladder spasms too?? But I’m wary as I thought it was always for IBSD which use to have. Any suggestions would be great if anyone tried this for constipation and bladder spasms Thank you

I was also prescribed this for constipation by a dr but like you I’m very unsure about using it. My gastroenterologist advised me to stay away from anti spasmodic drugs such as Buscopan as they slow the gut down. I will ask him when I next see him if I can take this drug but that not until 6 September!

Alverine citrate does make constipation worse as it delays gastric emptying slowing down gastric transit and antispasmodic medications are used for ibs d I have never heard of anyone with constipation having a good experience with any antispasmodic medications. Constipation is lack of peristalsis or rhythmic muscle contractions of the intestinal wall. antispasmodics all slow down peristalsis by relaxing the muscles and stopping the contractions needed to pass stool. I had a bad experience with alverine citrate for these reasons but we are all different but I wouldn’t advise if you have or likely to suffer from constipation.

Thanks that’s what I thought but they said it would stop the muscles from tightening up when you try to go to the toilet but who knows
