Anyone tried Collagen?

Was talking to my physio who also has IBS and she told me I should try taking Collagen powder. I have been doing some reading on it and seen that it not only helps hair and nails but in some studies it has been shown to help improve joint pain as well as GI issues in people with IBS. I just wondered if anyone here has ever tried it. It can be a bit pricey so before I go out and buy it I wanted more feeded back if possible! Thanks all.

I haven’t tried Collagen powder but I make organic chicken bone broth in my pressure cooker on a regular basis. I put a splash of apple cider vinegar in which helps extract the collagen from the bones. It usually “gels” well which I believe is an indication that it contains a significant amount of collagen. It only has to cook for 2 hours making it this way and is using up the chicken bones so the only real cost is the dash of apple cider vinegar and the cost of the electricity to cook it. I most definitely feel better when I am having the bone broth. I usually add cooked vegetables to the broth after cooking and have it as soup which is both tasty and nutritious. I have less joint pain and my IBS causes less problems although this is dependant on what else I’m eating at the time. Hope this helps?

Much of what you're doing is supposedly in the stuff I've bought, but your way is much cheaper!!! :) Great idea, if this stuff does seem to work for me I may not buy more and then just try what you're doing next. Thanks for sharing! :)

that’s so good! I live on the stuff. The gelatine is easily absorbed by the gut lining. Our adrenals are so glad we eat this! Spoons up 👍

I spent a huge amount on Arthred which is hydrolyzed (predigested) and most easily absorbed collagen. However, I can't categorically say that it helped.

The one that I bought says it has bone broth in it, and it is supposed to do all this "Collagen Powder Protein with Probiotics by Ancient Nutrition, Unflavored Multi Collagen Protein with Vitamin C, Hydrolyzed Collagen Peptides Supports Skin and Nails, Gut Health". Today is only my 2d day so I can't tell yet, but I'm sure hopeful! Sorry it didn't seem to work for you though.

I've just start using it. Only been on it a week so at the moment haven't seen any difference, but my IBS D is really bad at the moment and I am so hoping it helps. I too would be interested to know if anyone else has found it helpful.

Today is only my second day so I'm not sure yet either. I swear I feel more energy and less joint pain (I have rheumatoid arthritis), but I also just recently had my monthly biologic injection, so there could be some confounding of which is really giving me the benefit (or maybe it's a combination of them both!). I'm staying hopeful - time will tell. I hope you will have good benefit! :)

Collagen powder is one of my triggers. I can use a small amount of gelatin if it's completely dissolved. Also fine with bone broth but haven't made it lately.
