IBS symptoms ??
It could be IBS, but of course you can't be 100% sure until investigations rule everything else out, by one means or another. But yes, I also have lower back ache which is always worse just before#2 in the mornings. But I have problems with my back. A misaligned pelvis and some slight scoliosis of the spine. So it is hard to tell if the guts make that worse, or if the back makes the IBS worse...
I also do get 'discomforts' (not literally pain) in the sigmoid colon area, and it seems to be when wind is moving through. I get bloating in the lower abdomen too slightly more inclined to the left.
But again, my back issues have thrown the left side of my hips upwards and the right side down, so I don't know how much is related to that. Something has to be getting squashed inside there. I am sure what I have is not the same as what's going on with you. But I can certainly relate.
Hi. I was diagnosed 39+ years ago. Had bloods done twice this year and had camera up so it's IBS. Cheers
Interesting as I have had a lower back ache for years, which same as yours gets worse at night until I have a bowel movement in the morning (also emptying my bladder helps). I also have scoliosis and my right hip (I think) is higher than my left, right rib juts out more too and my right leg is functionally longer than my left. I often get a sensation that my abdomen is too crowded and that my organs are squashing each other, and this is causing me some discomfort or even pain. Maybe the lower back pain is because full bowels / bladder are pressing on a nerve which is out of alignment?
I've been wondering who I could see to understand my musculoskeletal issues better as I've never had a formal diagnosis of scoliosis, it has just been mentioned by dance teachers and the like (and obvious enough that when I'm doing exercise in form-fitting clothing you can easily see that it is misaligned).
I tried yoga but had to give up because it was really making my organs feel like they were squashing each other and was very painful, especially the holding positions. I also wonder if scoliosis has anything to do with my reflux as maybe my ribs being misaligned are somehow squashing or pressing on my oesophagus?
I find it not so easy to distinguish pain from discomfort, for me something can start out as what I guess is a mild type of pain and then get worse in certain conditions. Trapped wind can sometimes be very painful and the level of pain for me is directly related to how bloated I am (which again I can't help thinking is because my expanded gut is also pressing on other organs or nerves).
I have the same problem, Ishallwearmidnight. Hips very misaligned, and one leg longer than the other by quite a bit -at least more than an inch. My left hip bone juts out, and the right curves, so I have lost my waist on the right side. I get discomfort in lower sacral area where the bones are, and sometimes I get some numbness on the left which includes lower left abdomen, groin etc. That passes in minutes when it happens. But I think it has some connection to my ibs.
You mentioned your sigmoid, so that's the 1st thing I thought of. I do believe lower back pain is common with IBS in general. Not sure about the left ribs.
