Are these symptoms of IBS

I have been having right side of stomach swelling and sickness for almost a year now. I was referred to gastronology did a stool sample, all clear and was told it could be IBS. 2 weeks ago I was admitted to hospital and underwent emergency to remove my appendix and part of my bowel. CT scan showed appendicitis and that my appendix were wrapped around my bowel. Discharged the next day, a few days later the sickness came back. Was admitted back into hospital. Had an ultrasound scan which showed a small cyst underneath my liver. Dr's don't think this is causing the stomach swelling or sickness. Discharged 2 days later and referral to clinic. 8 week wait!

I have been keeping a food diary and there doesn't seem to be any pattern with it at all. Upper stomach swells and feels full and sick after eating. Also had dizziness and a strange hot burning sensation in my back.

Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms please?

I don't know if it is IBS. That can only be diagnosed by a gastroenterologist, especially since you have had several related problems.

Hi there. Sorry you are having to suffer like this. I have had similar symtoms but had an endoscopy(camera down the throat and into stomach) done. Showed I had Esophagitis. Treatment has been Omprozole 20mg twice a day change of diet and small evening meal at 5pm and light snack (half a banana and warm oat milk at 7.30 ish. After 6 months just starting to get better. Just starting now to reduce Omprozole to 10 mg 2 x a day. Also lost weight and felt very anxious all the time.

Oh gosh! They were giving me omprozole while I was in the hospital but then sent me home with no medication to take at home to help. Yes I've lost weight and same as you feeling anxious all the time, just worrying about what it is.

How long did you have to wait to be seen if you don't mind me asking?

Hi there. It was put through as urgent at the time by my doctor because I wasn't getting better on the meds. I was really suffering. The endoscopy team at the hospital phoned me and I was seen very quick. They were doing weekend appointments and I went in at 8.am on Sat morning. The Doc has to say there is a chance of cancer to get it rushed through. Hope this helps. Best wishes

I think you need a gastroscopy to check your stomach for inflammation and H pylori

I'm hoping my clinic referral will come through quicker than 8 weeks so I can ask for this to be done. The hot feeling all down my right side in my back is getting more frequent too

I would ask for ultrasound scan on gallbladder too as that’s on the upper right hand side the pain can go through to the back x

As has been said earlier, ask them to check for Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM) as this can occur with gallbladder problems.

Just wanted to let you know I have now been booked in for an endoscopy and have been given lansoprazole which seem to be helping. Yesterday was the first day I had no sickness for a very long time
