So I was just wondering if there's any difference in quality between different brands of lactase tablets or if they are all pretty much the same? I seem to have developed lactose intolerance - I excluded, then reintroduced and excluded again and it didn't leave much room for doubt. Haven't spoken to doc about it yet as I have my first consultation with gastro in a couple of weeks so seems sensible just to save it for then. But in the meantime I would like to not be spending an arm and a leg on alternative milks, if possible...
Thank you

Hi Azahar. I use almond milk which can be a bit pricey but my granddaughter makes her own oat milk. Haven't tried this myself but googled this link. bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/oat...
Most of the supermarkets sell lactose free milk these days, it's more expensive than regular milk but I think a bit cheaper than the plant based milks, which I find ghastly.
You can buy lactase tablets quite cheaply and take whenever you're eating anything containing high levels of lactose. I buy mine from Holland and Barrett especially when they have their buy one an get one for 1p offer. Or there are plenty of sellers on Amazon that sell it cheaply enough. They all seem to do the same job as far as I have found.
It's a good idea to locate a list of all foods that contain lactose in large amounts, because sometimes they are not what you think. I avoided cheese for a long time, but find that hard cheeses like cheddar contain very little. Yoghurt contains quite a lot, and during a flare up this affects me very badly, enough less I take a tablet at the same time.
I think you can get tested to be absolutely certain, but the consultant would know.
