Hi. I need to ask whether you think this cd be ibs I have ? .I cant eat meals as after a few bites they make me feel full and bloated. I have been suffering also for last few years terrible stomach cramps after I've had b/0. Doesn't make a difference if constipated or normal I get the pains I'm doubled over get lower back pain and terrible nausea this goes on from 2 -5 days .and is worse if I lie down so all I can do is pace around my flat . Then it goes for a few days then comes back again .if ibs cd I get it every week after going to toilet ? It used to be just now and again but for the last year it's now every week . It's made me so depressed and I cant plan anything cos dont know when I will be like it. my dr has been hopeless a bowel nurse said it cd be "slow transit colon " but I wd think I wd have to be constipated all time for that and I'm not ( do have to take laxatives to go though) and I shd be referred to the colonectomy team but she referred me for a colonoscopy. Which I cdnt have as awake and so painful .the consultant who did it sed I was better to of had an MRI. I'm on oramorph for my arthritus and not even that stops pain .and have tried buscopan mbeverine and peppermint. As well as all different nausea tablets . I want to know if anyone else has it like I do ? Xx

Is there another GP in your practice, if so, ask to make an appointment with them. Tell them exactly as you have told us. Unfortunately, there is no specific test for IBS, it is a diagnosis given when all other test results are negative but, the doctors know there is something going on with your insides. If there is no other GP in your practice, you may have to consider changing your GP. Sorry, I am not much help, but please get help, keep well and stay safe@
Having read through your post, I would say that you are actually constipated or have slow transit as the nurse suggested. Your comment about "do have to take laxatives to go though" is a clue! Also, the fact that you say you can't eat meals as after a few bites they make me feel full and bloated. Also the oramorph would make you constipated.
Nausea is a common side effect of IBS, I have it most days. And yes, you can have IBS every week, I have it everyday.
I agree. Opiates are the kiss of death for gut movement. So almost certainly constipation, but your gut certainly needs looking at. I can understand how painful a colonoscopy can be, and I wouldn't contemplate having one without as much sedation as allowed.
Don't be put off by your GP. Some of them can be dismissive and some are absolutely excellent. I know mine would have had me shipped off for investigations straight away, and wouldn't have rested until everything had been done to say there is nothing wrong with your gut that we can see. Then go down the road of irritable bowel.
Anxiety of course can also be the kiss of death to gut function as i know only too well!! So address that as well. Be persistent. Something is clearly not quite right and you need to know what it is, or more to the point what it isn't.
