Me again, just need a rant really.

Very tired of these symptoms now and trying everything I can to improve things with very little change.

I have taken advice of so many people on here tried so many things from IBS medication, to certain laxative and probiotic tablets. I have IBS mixed mainly constipation can go 3/4 days with no BM then when I go from taking laxatives it is soft but I don’t empty probably at all. Have a small BM and then my bum just feels constantly full. Am drinking so much water, I have warm water every morning and throughout the day, I used to love a good cup of tea but stopped having things I like.

I had another night last night no sleep due to trapped wind and it’s coming up to time of month so feeling very sorry for my self.

I just really wish I could get my life back to normal, and go to the toilet normally ☹️

Am becoming more and more down.

Thanks for reading.

I feel for you. I guess we are all looking for a "cure". Maybe we just have to learn to live with it. I haven't though.

Think maybe that’s what it is and also because you only diagnosed from symptoms I panic that they have missed something and worse with Covid being about because am not classed as a priority.

Nobody is classed as a priority with IBS, unless there is something unusual going on!

Sorry to hear you are struggling with your IBS. Why have you stopped having tea is it the caffeine? I would hate not having my morning cuppa . I have changed some of my cups of tea to herbal never thought I would I have chamomile in the afternoon to relax my stomach and peppermint after dinner. Have to have some caffeine tea or else I get bad headaches. Take care

I stopped having tea thinking it was the milk and sugar so I drink hot water in the mornings. Trying to get as much water in me as I can but that does not seem to be helping as am still constipated

You would be better having hot coffee in the morning because that will help you go. The fact that it's hot helps, coffee helps you to go with or without caffeine and sugar, I find, helps things on their way too, especially for constipation!

I will try a coffee not a big fan but will try it. Just a normal white coffee with sugar would that work ?

Yes, I usually have two mugs one after the other, I love coffee, but tea would do if you like tea but I don't find it has quite the umph that coffee has! It has to be hot coffee though, not the cold coffees you get now. I have cold coffee, if I don't want to go to the loo during the day. I wouldn't have a hot coffee during the day unless I wanted to go number twos, I keep hot coffee for evenings now. I hope it helps you but unfortunately we are all different, and one size does not fit all! Good luck anyway. And it should be immediate, no waiting around for hours to see if it works.

Keep going with probiotics it’s takes time with something to start work. Things doesn’t just take couple of days. Anything you take you need to give at least 2 weeks. I hope something will work.

Thanks That’s one of my biggest issues being impatient they only arrived Tuesday so not even had them a week yet.

I will stick with them and buscopan and stop other things

Definitely do give a time some things need to kick in before they show some results. I thought the same and it went only worse before get better. It’s frustrating but stick with things and think it will work just needs a time. Because your stress and anxiety makes worse for sure.

Hi Bluesky I ve been taking the probiotics you advised for 9 days now j oh take them at night before bed. How ever I think they are causing me to have bad wind/trapped wind every night which is affecting my sleeping. I noticed it more yesterday and today I have been on throughout the day then take the tablets and about an hour after Wind and trapped wind. I decided to just have 1 this evening but same thing has happened hence why am a wake now writing this (am so tired) do you think it could be the tablets?

I tried looking to see if any side affects and one thing dud say excessive gas.

Trust your gut feeling. From my own experience, probiotics can do more harm than good. I tried many different probiotic strains but most of the time they made my symptoms worse. I don't take them anymore. Due to a dysfunctional gut I need to take a laxative 3 or 4 times a day. I am currently on my own regime of antimicrobial natural products (phytotherapy). This seems to work for me although obviously I can't heal my gut, only alleviate related symptoms.

in reply toBassem1979

Stop the tablets for a week and see if anything changes.

I use probiotics and they are great for me, maybe they just don't work for everyone.

Everyone is different it’s natural that’s the reason why there is no side effects. I had worse days too before I felt better. But it was me. I did wait few more days. But if you feel you can’t take it anymore you can of course stop. And see how you get on without. To be fair IbS can get worse with feeling nervous and stressed. Try meditation while you do try things to try relax it is very difficult but things can cause everything worse

I read online if you have SIBO which not sure what it is probiotics can make this worse. But it can be just reaction on them first and it will pass. Just your gut is in shock now and want to be clear so it can be that you get all this worse now. That’s what I read. It did made mine worse before I start feeling better.

Maybe you can try decaf tea? See if that is okay... or peppermint tea is quite good. That said, everyone on hear knows how you feel as we are still wearing the T shirt! Sometimes there are better days, sometimes not. Perhaps even ask an understanding GP to go through your meds with you including any you buy over the counter... x

Thank you It’s unbelievable how bad IBS is and how long the pain and symptoms can last for, I think that is the reason I start to google things because it’s how can this just be IBS

I know am trying to run before I can walk by trying to find something that helps it’s because am so fed up now and feel my life is on hold. I get mad at my self because as previously said I was find until had my booster wish I had not had it but can’t take that back now.

I could live with this if I knew I would have a flare up for a few weeks then go back to normal but 6 weeks now and still the same.

This is not a way of living.

in reply toBassem1979

Yes decaf tea as mentioned plus give ginger tea a go, it's really good.

You may have very slow gut and intestine motility. After numerous tests (some quite invasive) and the support of a dietician for the FODMAP diet, I had a slow gut transit test and was eventually prescribed prucalopride which stimulates gut motion. Ask yor GP to refer you to a specialist who may consider this. It has changed my life. I still follow a largely Fodmap diet, insoluble fibre being the biggest culprit for me with the slow gut transit but I can now manage the symptoms with the medication and diet. I wish you good luck.

Don't be so hard on yourself....have decaf tea ( available everywhere) with lactose free milk..you wont know the difference

I was diagnosed in 2015 , and very quickly found the Low Fodmap diet which was very successful, but brought it's own stresses. IBS doesn't just come for a while and clear up, like tonsillitis. If only!! You have to relax, accept it, and with the help of people in the same situation, work to find your best way through it. You have my sympathy, I'm.still waiting. Good Luck.
