Stomach pain when I take esomeprazole
No, it isn't. You should contact your GP or GI team and let them know. It may be an idea to talk to your pharmacist as well while waiting to get through to the doctors.
Definitely not normal. Get in touch with your GP a.s.a.p. I have had similar symptoms as you describe while I was on omeprazole. Did you ever consider that you may possibly suffer from low stomach acid (also know as hypochlorhydria) and not from high stomach acid? If you suffer from low levels of hydrochloric acid taking PPI’s won’t help your symptoms but aggravate them further. I suffer with low acid stomach. As we age we tend to produce less and less acid in our stomach - it is very common in the older population. General practitioners are always happy to prescribe you these medications without an in-depth investigation. Not one GP checks your acidity levels in the stomach before they prescribe PPI’s. They all assume it’s the high stomach acid level that cause problems - everyone happy to put you on these tables and then fob you off. Listen to your body and not to what the doctors tell you…you hold the kay to your problems and doctors should have an answer to them. I usually treat my condition by consuming cider vinegar before my meals, ginger and digesting enzymes from Holland & Barrett - check this link: hollandandbarrett.com/shop/...

If you want to find out which one you’ve got low or high stomach acid - you can test yourself by using PH Test Strips or another simple way of doing this is to prepare a solution or a mixture of 1/4 tbs of bicarbonate of soda in 100 mls of water. Drink this solution in the morning on an empty stomach. After you’ve ingested this you should begin burping - if there was no burping with 5 minutes of ingesting the solution then you don’t have high levels of acid in you stomach but low. Hi. Stomache issues are seemingly a common side effect 1 in 10 can have issues. As an IBS sufferer I had to stop as pain and other side effects were worse than the cough it was supposed to help with. Prior to taking the drug I hadn't had any other acid reflux symptoms but have had issues for the past year. Worth going back and getting further checks.
I actually found that it gave me indigestion, if you read the I formation leaflet, I think it mentions stomach pains. I had to stop taking it
