Hi all I'm new here. I went to A and E because my stomach pain was so excruciating (stabbing, cramping and burning) and that I was delerious with it. It took 3 times to attend AandE (from Friday to Monday for them to give me a blood test and said all was clear but didn't take a stool sample. It's been nearly a week now of pain on and off and feel pretty unwell and have no appetite.
They gave me Buscupan and proton pump inhibitor capsules in case I had acid but I feel that when my stomach has been a bitter calmer and I take Buscupan it makes the cramps worse?!
Has anyone had this experience of the above as I'm a 42 year old man who's feeling anxious and worrying it's something more serious. Thank you

Hi Marty, I agree with the above and think you should pursue this with your own doctor. It could something of nothing but please please ensure this and keep going on at your doctor if it doesn’t get any better and see if he refers you. Best of luck to you my friend. Hugs
Hi, think you should see your GP and talk about your symptoms. The doctor can refer you to a gastroenterologist if necessary. Try to make a longer appointment so you have the time to explain what you are feeling. Of course you need to tell that you already went to the A and E because of the pain. I did have similar pain once or twice and it's really frightening.
I agree and will be asking to get a stool sample taken and and some scans etc. Not sure if gastroenteritis caused this from about 6 weeks ago along with stress but had enough now. How long did your pain last for? Thanks again
The pain/cramping I had didn't last long but was very, very intense. I remember that I thought I shouId call the emergency number 112. I don't remember how long it lasted before it subsided but it was within 12 hours I think.
Hi there I would defo get a doc appointment ask for stool test there is something defo happening there and just because it's not showing up on bloods tge now mean jack ... I am now on 3 month off my symptoms still don't have a diagnosis but getting loads off test done ... my blood work start out fine then in the last month my blood work has changed and currently waiting on new blood work results again ... if you know there something wrong don't wait to be seen get to your doc ASAP x
Thank you everyone for your kind messages. I sound pathetic as a 42 year old dad but privately a bit scared as just wanna get my energy back and without the pain so I can play with my two year old and get back to the gym which I used to love (nothing to do with this pain just that I got lazy and tired from bring up baby haha)
There are all sorts of conditions that could explain the pain , and pain has to be investigated. My original diagnosis 40 years ago was ''a grumbling appendix', only with a follow through barium exray did they see the colon in spasm. Since then i have shown on exray diverticulitis, which can also be painful. But isnt for me!
Dont be put off. you need scans as well as blood tests.
H pylori maybe? Sounds like what I had
Hi Marty there’s prob a few on here who have had to go accident & emergency for the pain inc me so I feel for you . It’s really important that everything else is ruled out first before ibs is diagnosed . As you’ve hAd gastroenteritis recently I would insist on a stool test at least and google post infectious ibs ,my daughter has had food poisoning and is still suffering from pain And can’t eat . Keep persisting hopefully it is from what you had 6 weeks ago and with time and treatment it will bugger off ! Fingers crossed take care x
I been suffering from pain for nearly 4 mths so feel for you having it so bad. Hope you manage to get further tests and some answers. I've had mixed success with buscopan for pain thought it did help few times but not recently hoping for some advice how to handle this when see gastroenterologist.Take care x
Go to the Dr. I find stress, anxiety makes my IBS worse. My blood test results were normal also, but I haven't given a stool specimen. Do you use the fodmap diet? All the best of luck in what you do.
