Which forum is best for support and advise on ultrasounds that show thickening of uterus wall..one says it is then 2 say it isn't?? Very confused to how I should treat this if I should pay again to see my gnie I'm 62 never had gynie problems but I'm on hrt as got a bladder prolapse and trying to delay the operation ...lack of estrogen has caused it when I came off hrt so advised to go bk on but now I'm worried about this area?? Honest being a woman sucks !!! Xx

I dont know about a forum but I was found to have a thickened lining of the uterus when I had an ultrasound. I was seen by gynae and as it was only just over the normal thickness they opted to rescan in 3 months. At the 2nd scan it had increased so I had a hysteroscopy (camera) that showed it was polyps. They were removed and all was well. I'm in the UK.

Aww thanks love its a bit of a strange one as first scan last Jan said polyp and thickening then the gp sent me for one in Feb that didn't show anything at all repeated in May this year still didn't show anything but this one showing thickening again very bizarre..I will make a appointment with my gnie private as I can't be waiting 12 months on nhs and see if he thinks I should stay on the hrt as its the estrogen that causes it apparently...thankyou so much for your reply hun xx

Its so difficult to get anything sorted out these days with all the disruption caused by covid. It all adds to the stress of everything.

I've had it done twice. Thw first time I had a general anaesthetic cos the doctor asked how my pain threshold was. I then needed it doing again after some bleeding (I'm not on hrt) I decided to have it without anaesthetic. They suggest you take your regular pain relief 1 hour before the procedure. I had some codeine tablets from when I had my gallbladder out, so I took a dose of that. It gave me enough pain relief that I managed fine. It isn't pleasant, but it didn't warrant a general anaesthetic. They repeated the ultrasound prior to the procedure and if they don't feel its necessary you don't have it done. It was all sorted on the same day the 2nd time I went.

Having had an ultrasound that showed I had thickening of the uterus, I recently had a hysteroscopy a week later. A few biopsies were taken at the first consultation, which were incredibly painful, and so I was expecting the worst; but I didn't feel any pain or even much discomfort from the camera proceedure.

The NHS staff were really supportive throughout and thankfully the biopsies were negative and nothing worrying was found during the hysteroscopy.
