Hi all,I posted recently about a severe pain I had that lasted around 5 hours one night and then subsided by the next morning, I've never had appendicitis but I imagine this is the sort of pain people experience.
I do have slightly high cholesterol confirmed by blood tests so it may have been gallstones but there's no way to confirm that
After this happened I had cramps and aches in my stomach but nowhere near as bad and also my stool habits changed, they went from being normal (to me) to almost flat like and sometimes the thickness of a AA battery.
It's been 5 weeks and I've also started experiencing pain in my bones along with an urgency to go pee for the last 3 weeks when I do need to go.
I've been to the GP twice about my shoulder/bone pain and they said they don't think an x-ray will be beneficial.
I've now been back about the abdominal pain and issue changed to my stool / pee habits and they've just passed it off as IBS again. Has anyone experienced gallstones or similar symptoms?
I appreciate I've had multiple tests by the GP but still feel that something isn't right and just seem to be getting shirked off.

Just to add in a 35 year old male, relatively fit, train often but no so much recently because of the issues above. Typically weigh about 12st but now dropped down to 11.5st ... Not sure why. Don't feel to stressed just want to know what's going on with me and if it is just IBS symptoms as the GPs keep saying
Sadly, it is very common to be fobbed off. You have an advantage in that you are male. Your unintended weight loss needs flagging up if you haven't already. You don't mention your diet, this may be relevant. I have said this many times, but if you may need to be 'politely persistent' before you are taken seriously. Perhaps see a different person at your practice? You can ask for a second opinion and for a referral if you feel you are not being listened to.
electrolyte deficiency especially magnesium. I got IBS after gym and stress. Get magnesium spray oil for muscles . Get a drink made of sodium/potassium 3:2 from supermarket as Nosalt/Losalt and normal salt.
hi, sorry to hear your problems. I think a lot of us can relate to feeling fobbed off.
I had severe pains a few years back. It was all over, even in my shoulders blades and I thought it was trapped wind. Ended us so severe I went to A&E and on morphine. Was told it couldn’t be gallstones as you don’t get pain in shoulder blades but after 4 days in hospital a scan showed gallstones and the chap that done the scan told me it is common to get pain in shoulder blades.
Ended up with sepsis and luckily was in right place. Discharged after 20 days and had op a year later. So yes the pain is horrendous.
I have been told recently that I have IBS with terrible stomach pain. Was told paracetamol and buscapan. I too feel the need to wee urgently with pencil stools sometimes.
From what I gather from this site, symptoms are very varied so maybe visit gp again or if severe pains, phone 111 who are helpful.
Gall bladder problems are THE issue that does cause shoulder blade pain! When the gut is irritated it can cause the bladder to be irritable also. I hope that you are soon able to get relief from your abdo pain.
I'm debating paying for an abdomen ultrasound myself, I feel that if I ask for any sort of investigatory procedure from my GP they'll shut me down and say it isn't required. Looking at the symptoms of my stomach pain and change in stool gallstones seems like the most likely cause of all this but doesn't answer the bone pain I feel.
My other issue is that my practice works on a rotation of GPs within their cluster so you never get to see the same one unless you call on a certain day and they have availability.
My diet is relatively healthy, im conscious of saturated fat etc. And have tried FODMAP before which didn't seem to improve anything.
I'll admit I've had plenty of tests including stool blood and a CT 12 months ago which is why I think the GP sees this and just maybe think I'm a hypochondriac and makes you feel like an idiot when you turn up and tell them your symptoms because you know what their response will be.
I've been prescribed mebeverine, has anyone taken this and did it work for you? I am going to toilet daily so don't really see how it will improve my aches and pains.
An abdominal ultrasound does sound like a good idea, to look at the gallbladder and kidneys (amongst other things). You often hear of problems seeing organs on US due to gas, so try to eat a low gas-inducing diet a few days prior (low FODMAP I guess). Hope that you get to the root of all this!
