Does anyone have issues with some high fibre foods given them gas but not others? For instance tonight I had red lentil pasta and my wind is horrendous, whereas when I have whole wheat I’m a lot better. The fibre in both seems very similar, so I’m confused.
To be fair i can eat the same things often and sometimes they set of the wind and bloating and sometimes they don’t. No rhyme or reason for it, oh the joys of IBS hey! I would love to be able to eat lentils and beans more but I hate risking feeling like this.

Same here. It is very confusing, as sometimes I eat certain things and I'm fine, but next time I eat it I'm not! Another thing is, if I eat the culprits once it's not so bad, but if I repeat it the next day, that's it! Even for esophageal reflux, works the same. There have been times where a certain brand of cereals was the solution for my constipation, bloating and pain. Weeks later I cannot longer eat those cereals anymore as giving me so much wind and stomach ache! Hey, the joys of IBS, yes!
Beans... I'd love to be able to eat more. Sometimes I'm ok eating them, sometimes not. Red beans not so bad, but black-eyed beans no way! Chickpeas, my favourite, better don't touch it. Lentils? Little devils!
I’m completely the same, it’s so hard trying to nail the culprit when it changes constantly. And sometimes it’s embarrassing, when your stomach starts gurgling at your desk and everyone knows you need to break wind 🙈. I wish they would plough more money into research, I’d pay a lot for a fix! Haha
No I cannot eat beans at all they have a sugar in them that the body does not digest easily. I have to cut all beans out I can eat most other vegetables if they are cooked well so it’s not a problem.
If you have problems with beans I have heard that you can soak them before and that may help - check it out on the Internet.
Personally I have to not eat them at all or I would it be able to go to work.
Personally I don't think it is what you eat for some people. But not eating too much of one thing is often good practise unless of course you know you are completely safe with it.
