Anal pain after BM

I have had IBS C for several years but manage it mostly by using Laxido

But recently it's been causing me to wake up about 4.00am and have a bowel movement

But then about 30 / 60mins later I suffer really bad anal pain and burning sensation that can last for hours.

Does anyone suffer the same pain

Hi hope you are doing well. Thank you for sharing. I have similar symptoms. Do you have pain when sitting and/or after a bowel movement? Have you had a colonoscopy?

Bits1961 your pain from levator ani and your IBS may share a common root called the vagus nerve, the brain gut connection. Critical for proper function is thiamine that is easy to be deficient. This link has a good diagram of the connection and although sibo is highlighted IBS shares the same stage. Searching "levator ani thiamine" brings focus on that pain. Benfotiamine, TTFD and sulbutiamine are forms of thiamine offering high absorption and other benefits. Pain causes loss of magnesium and magnesium is needed for thiamine activation. Consult your health care professional before using any supplement.

Your welcome Bits. Remember the B vitamins work better together and as a team it looks like thiamine is the Quarterback. Visit the other players as well. Include the brain with your thiamine research as the two thiamine forms TTFD and sulbutiamine are especially efficient passing through the blood/brain barrier where thiamine deficiency has dire consequences especially for cognitive health. Benfotiamine is good for the eyes and the body in general. I encourage you to become familiar with each. I touched on magnesium's role and magnesium is worth your time along with boron to study. "Nothing boring about boron" is a good introduction. Funny as it may sound it will help keep you from shrinking.

I have exactly these symptoms and went to a and e on advice from my gp. a Senior doctor discussed levator ani syndrome and prescribed regular sitz baths and diazapam as muscle relaxant. There are some related squat and kettle exercises too on google. It takes a long time to improve but there is no long term harm. Its excruciating pain. My sympathies.

I have developed this very thing, too. Also, I believe I have an injured pudendal nerve. Those two things combined have caused my inability to sit. I have been in bed for 3 yrs because I cannot sit. Life is miserable. I wish I knew what I could do. I did get recently a steroidal salve to help with the rawness pain of my anus. I am so overwhelmed by this situation I believe there is no solution. I need no become more proactive about it. Thanks,

Hi, I've had same problem with Laxido so had to stop taking it. My GP said laxitive powders can have this affect sometimes. He's now prescribed Docusate gel capsules which I can take up to 5 capsules per day to spread over the course of the day. I've started on 1 capsule, 3 times a day so I'll see how I go with them. It's trying to find just that right balance.
