I've started getting this in the last month or so. Used to be that a good BM (poo), usually with much (high pressure) wind would bring immediate and lasting relief. Now what usually happens is that soon after, I get this intense ache, deep in (so not anal, that's another story) and it can be worse than the original and not so easy to relieve -because it's apparently out of nowhere. Looking it up says it's just a symptom of IBS.
Just wondering if anyone else gets this and if/how they deal with it.

Yes I used to feel better after a poo but IBS loves to outwit us! these days when i have a flare up I have aching and pain after and feel a lot worse !
sorry you are still going through this. I know you are waiting for further investigations. I do not know if you have tried meditation.
A few times for me when I have been suffering bad pain which will not go, I have found that there are a couple of Tara Brach’s meditations on YouTube which help.
In these meditations, whilst becoming present and aware of everything around - sounds, body sensations, emotions, etc., we are directed to ask ourselves who is it that is feeling these sensations? Where is the watcher/witness of the sensations located in us? We may or may not be able to locate this watcher; then we go on to ask who is the watcher or witness who is aware of watching? Where is this located in me? Sometimes it is very interesting to find that it seems there is no witness or watcher, or “I” or “me” that I can locate. There seems to be a sort of ocean of consciousness. But what is most amazing is that the pain of the IBS disappears. This has happened to me around four times now.
it sounds very highfaluting I know. If you want further details, please say.
I'd love more details. Can you say which Tara Brach meditations you are referring to here? I think she's very good and mindfulness helps everything - it's just doing it that's the problem!
I half-joked with a mate who is going through chemo and seems to keep his sense of humour that my health thing is 'just literally getting on my nerves'. And I'm feeling somewhat weak from dealing with all this, and losing weight too. I make an effort to get outside exercise. And I have some pretty good days too.
