Anal leaks

Sorry for the disgusting title, so I've had ibs all my life, I'm 55 now and Male, also suffer from anxiety now and again,

Last 12 months whenever I go for a poo, I have leaking afterwards no matter how often I clean my self, it's always a slimely liquid, I had a colonoscopy done a few months back which came back clear, this has ruined my life more than anything else I've ever had,

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

I suffer the same, I find especially during a bad IBS flare up (which tends to happen all the time) are you on medication just now for IBS?

Thanks for your reply, no the only thing I take is buscopan occasionally, lot of it is stress related ,but it has ruined my life ,constantly worrying about going to the toilet , anyway there are worse things happening in the world at the moment

I completely agree how horrendous it can be. The anxiety of not being near a toilet stopped me from going many places. (IBS flares up far worse for me when my anxiety and stress is extra high) especially just now with everything going on. I drink peppermint tea often and I also get prescribed peppermint oil like tablets from my doctor( I will send u the name of the tablets when I’m home)I do notice they help. I know the doctors can prescribe certain medicine to help harden stools, might be worth looking into and trying to control the stress and anxiety helps too 😊

There are specialist teams that may be able to help you:

gutscharity.org.uk/advice-a...

nhsinform.scot/illnesses-an...

If you don't want to see your GP, you can usually make an appointment at your local NHS continence service without a referral.

It looks like it is a treatable condition.

Many thanks for your reply , that was really helpful, I'm not in the UK, but I will certainly use the link you sent it and discuss it with my doctor, I've slipped discs in my back and was taking a lot of pain killers this led me to become constipated and I remember straining to go particularly badly, that was 2 years ago and I haven't been right since, so maybe I done damage at the time ,

Cheers for your reply
