Anyone feel worse after going to the toilet? I can go quite normally but then straight away feel horribly bloated and a bit nauseous. No pain but an uncomfortable and generally horrible feeling.
Some days worse than others but a BM rarely makes me feel better!

Hi BinksI usually feel better after a BM as the pain fades but can get alot of wind after. Sorry to hear your uncomfortable and hope you get some answers🤞
I don't think I actually get 'bloating' . I never feel 'too full', too fat, or swollen generally over my stomach area but I do get some distension in my lower abdomen below the belly button which comes and goes as it wishes!
If it's in one of those phases, then yes, it can sometimes seem a bit worse even after a morning bm. Usually after a bm, even though I felt discomfort and uneasiness just before it, I feel better in many ways and can get on with my day, but I tell you that isn't necessarily typical for someone with IBS!
It seems when my gut is much more sensitive, even after having a bm my lower tummy will still seem uneasy, uncomfortable and still a bit swollen, even if I have 'been' properly and quite thoroughly. It does come and go with me and isn't like that all the time.
It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one. I know that the Rome 4 criteria says better or worse after a BM but it's usually better for most people I think.
Yes i feel like that but have pain too which radiates to my lower back. Very uncomfortable
Hi Binks. I feel uncomfortable before and after going, but the nature of the discomfort is different. After I have been I feel as if I have been punched in the gut. I put this down to the fact that the bowel is empty and needs to relax, because it does ease within a short time.
hi Binks, sorry to hear about the bloating and unpleasant feelings. Sorry I do not feel bloated after a BM, but I do get a lot of pain. I usually have to lie down for a long while afterwards.
There used to be a site out there on bowel-triggered myalgia which I found quite useful but has since disappeared. Described our symptoms - especially the fatigue part - very well
Hi Binks, I also get pain after a BM, the last two days have been just awful, I had two really large BM's yesterday (think this is because I have tried to add more red meat, brocolli and nuts, seeds into my diet due to low iron levels) but never had pain like this before, my stomach feels like a wrung out dishcloth and I feel so tired, weak, no energy or appetite, you are not alone!!! I am also really bloated and nothing takes the pain away, I take 10mg Amitriptyline at night and Mebeverine twice a day, also have buscopan for bad days like today and yesterday but that does nothing when its a bad day. Hope you get some relief soon.
