I suffer from IBS D but I started taking 1 imodum instance after my BM in the morning and it seems to have settled down, I might go again once in the evening or not at all, so my question is, is it ok to take the 1 imodum instance for maintenance or has anyone else done this??? I'm afraid of them doing some kind of harm???

Imodum for maintenance
I was recommended to try this from the doctor. It worked for a time but I found that when I really needed to take one, it wasn’t as effective.
I was also told by the the doctor that Imodium doesn’t transfer to the bloodstream so was safe to use as long as you want to.
I have carried some with me whenever I go out for at least 30 years now.
Good luck.
I was prescribed Loperamide 250g( the main constituent of Imodium) 10 years ago, and have used it ever since when needed. I’ve seen posts on here from people taking up to 6 a day, so you’re really not overdoing it. If it works for you, carry on.
I have bile acid malabsorption- so get daily diarrhoea. I lived on loperamide until I got binder medication. I take that and still have to take loperamide daily. Anything from 2-6 a day.
I agree I've taken loperamide for years & codeine, I wouldn't be able to leave the house otherwise.
My doctor has prescribed loperimide tablets rather than capsules. He recommended I buy a pill cutter (Amazon just under £6) so I can adjust the dosage.Sometimes need to take 1 whole capsule other days half a tablet.Plus 2 mebeverine for cramps.Loperimide works well for me.
I also do this, it seems to be the only way to have a reasonable day. Mind you a gastroenterologist did say to make more use of buscopan, ? One a day. I unfortunately am on a tablet that conflicts with it
I've been taking them for years. I sometimes take 4 a day if I'm out and about.
I still take loperamide every other day just one with my kimchi. I probably could do without it now but am a bit scared to stop. Con amore Bx
Thanks everyone for the feedback 🤠
