Hi All. I have my colonoscopy tomorrow and have started the prep. I am absolutely losing my mind as I just visited the bathroom and it's all diarrhea. Sorry if it's too much info. I looked in to the bowl and it the colour of the water was really dark brown I'm so worried now. I just want to fats forward to tomorrow. If I'm honest tears are just flowing at the minute as I'm terrified of what theyl see in my colon tomorrow.

If you started the prep, this sounds like a normal response. Luckily, for your anxiety, the results of a colonoscopy are available right after the procedure, if you are awake.
I too this too before my colonoscopy & had exactly the same results , it means it’s working if diarrhoea is coming out , it will eventually get clearer (the diarrhoea) & that means you’re empty . The bowel prep is awful & tastes disgusting but it sounds like it’s working so try not to get too worried & stay close to the loo .
I was absolutely terrified of having the colonoscopy but after a sedative before the procedure, I never felt a thing , much to my surprise.
Try not to worry, what you are seeing is normal. It's understandable to be worried- but actually what you are doing is going to help you regain a little bit more control of your body- so give yourself a bit of credit for that! If you are still feeling anxious when you get there, speak to the nurses, let them know and they can make sure you have a sedative. Nobody likes having these things, but it's important to get a good look at what's going on so your team can plan your meds and offer you support. Take care and good luck!
Sounds totally normal for prep. It is intended to turn you into a firehouse to clean out everything. Take it from all of us that have done it. It sucks and it's usually the worst part of a colonoscopy. Hang in there and do it all do not skimp on the prep as the cleaner it is the better for the procedure and you might get your answers. And the best part of doing a half ass prep is having to do it again. Hang in there.
What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. You won't feel the procedure and will get a full explanation as soon as your awake enough to go though it with the doctor. Good luck.
Try not to worry. As everyone else has intimated, what you are experiencing is totally normal. Try and positively distract yourself- listen to music, watch a comedy or something to make you smile, good luck with tomorrow and let us know how you go x
I felt that the prep was the worst part of the procedure! You will be totally cleared out, and the doctor will be able to see clearly that there is no problem in your bowel. I often talk to people about the prep, which now is very funny. The major part is now over. Relax with a sedative ( you won’t be zonked out!) and let them do it, concluding with good news immediately afterwards.
Good luck for today. You won't need it. Fear of what may be found is worse than the procedure. I had three colonoscopies in my time. Preferred one was being asleep during it. But all were okay just uncomfortable x
I feel for you, the procedure is not too bad and will add info for your doc. Trouble is with these IBS type problems is that we look normal to others and that doesn`t help our mood. If we had a broken leg people would help us in and out of the chairs etc but with these gut problems we are more or less suffering on our own. We are with you and hope all goes well for you and the problem is sorted so that you can get the right treatment and start living again.🥰
Once you've gotten through the prep, you've gotten through the worst of it all! And like others have said, this all sounds very normal. The procedure itself is surprisingly painless (I almost fell asleep). Good luck to you
What you see in the toilet is just what you should expect to see. Little by little the digested food in your intestines gets washed out of you and the water will become clear or nearly clear. You will be squeaky clean for the colononscopy and all will be well. The procedure itself only takes about a half hour. Relax.
Aww hi guys. It went amazingly well. I'd do it all over again if I had to! Thank you all so much for your kind words. The consultant took 12 biopsies because there was alot of inflammation, I asked him if it's the scary C or anything and assured me its mist definitely something to do with colitis. Anyone else had this? Thanks guys x
Nice! Glad it went well for you. I have my first colonoscopy in a week kinda nervous as well. What were your symptoms that you needed a colonoscopy and your calprotectin level if you don’t mind me asking?
I am here to completely assure you it is absolutely fine and YOU will be fine. The bowel prep really is the worst thing about it all! Ask for sedation..I did but I'm fairly sure it didnt work because I feel whoozy for 2 seconds and then continued to talk to the consultant and watch my insides on a screen..my symptoms were very loose stools all of the time and right sided cramps..re my calprotectin level I think it was around 70? I might be completely wrong as he told me just before my procedure and it went over my head. He did say it was abit higher than normal but not overly concerning. Let me know how it goes for you x you will be fine
Prep is most people's nightmare. I would keep to a very light diet 24 hours before taking it. Colour varies, but usually explosions of brown water is common. I don't take all of it. As I have IBS and a problem diverticular. The procedure is usually quick and just uncomfortable, usually plenty of care support around you. At your age its unlikely to return a serious problem on the screen. But peace of mind and discounting anything else, but IBS, is better to have to not have it done, and in the dark. You lay on a recovery bed or chair with a little oxygen after, and usually clear to return home after 30 to 40 mins. Get transport, try not drive until next day when your over it👍
I had this too before mine, and by the end of the day I was in tears and sore no one told me it would come so fast and I didn't make the bathroom, I ended up putting on disposal pance horrible feeling, best of luck with the results let us know how you get on
