Hi there been on laxido for 8 months . waiting for tests to be done but long waiting list. I dont want colonoscopy done due to real bad anxiety. Can I be referred to for an ct scan instead. My doctors are useless dont seem to understand that people do suffer with bad anxiety. Has anyone else been in this situation thank you. I suffer with IBS constipation.

utrvevaj, these links provide an overview to a brain gut connection. Important in this connection is the B vitamin thiamine and magnesium. Please research both of them individually for their functions in the body and how they may apply to your health concerns. Become familiar with the pros and cons with forms of thiamine as well as the other B vitamins and magnesium. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplements.

Having a colonoscopy is not terrible - more of a pain in the neck, although I understand that the first one is scary. Before the procedure you are given a sedative that puts you to sleep for a brief time so that you feel no discomfort. The results are available pretty much immediately. If that is what your doctor recommended I think that is what you should do, otherwise it will always be on your mind. A CAT scan is not the same as a colonoscopy.

You could ask for a ct colonoscopy instead I would rather face the anxiety of having the tests than the anxiety of not knowing what’s wrong with me x

I think people have different experiences with colonoscopies and am sorry to have to say that mine was terrible and if a scan can give as good a result I would opt for it again if possible should I need another. I was supposedly given a light relaxant which had no effect at all and certainly didn’t cause me to sleep. I apparantly have severe looping which made things more difficult ( caused it seems from past constipation) so may be I was just unlucky - I can usually cope ok with most procedures. However I have had a further two sigmoidoscopies (left side only) and both those were fine, Your full one may be too so good luck with it if a scan isn’t an option.

Like you loopy bowel and difficult colonoscopy. The only way to have it is with anaesthetic

I had a colonoscopy a few years ago. Not a problem better than a visit to the dentist 👍😀
