Metronidazole

Hi I was having diarrhoea and blood from three weeks. I was given metronidazole tablet 400mg twice a day for five day . Nothing changed .

I had severe pain and bloating then doctor change from tablet to liquid form of metronidazole 500mg/100ml infusions .

I am given pain killer codein along with it .

After having first dose of metronidazole I felt a bit better and reduced pain .

And for the first time I didn’t see blood in my diarrhoea .

My question is that do I still have to worry that I might have colon cancer ?

I have started drinking water I feel thirsty .

Hi there have you had a stool test to check for infection or parasites ? If not go back to doctor if your symptoms have not gone away go back and insist on tests good luck x

You should see a gastroenterologist about the blood in your stool.

It’s unlikely to be cancer as you can actually see the blood. However, you are suffering more than you should be and you should go back to your medic for reassurance. Buona fortuna. Bx
