Does anyone know how long it takes to get this tablet of out your system? Took it for a tooth abscess and the side effects have been terrible. I thought I was dyeing, side effects have been nightmares, confusion, slurred talking, feeling sick. Has anyone else had this?
Thanks x

The time taken for a drug to leave the body is measured by its half-life (like radioactive materials). The half-life of metronidazole is 6.5 hours so, after a day, there’s only about 10% of it left and 1% after 2 days. So you should find the effects wearing off pretty quickly.
I only took the first tablet and it turned my wee nearly black. Went back to the pharmacy and he told me to stop and immediately go to the doctor. As a result there was damage to my liver and have to have a blood test every year and sometimes have to have a scan if the levels are raised.
I had Metronidazole a few years ago for tooth abscess and I had funny uncomfortable side effects like extreme anxiety and a sort of buzzing inside body it wasn’t nice saw doc about it but she had no idea what it was she just said that some drugs have side effects and it should wear off. It did eventually go about 3 weeks after stopped taking it but it was a horrible sensation. Hang in there hope it will eventually go!
