Acid Reflux

My trouble started just after Christmas, keep feeling sick all the time, doc thought it was acid reflux possibly caused by my hiatus hernia, Prescribed loads of PPIs which made things worse, in the end used Gaviscon mint which made it a bit better, then I got mucus with my stool, gradually got worse, then blood, ending in 2 week referral with an appointment with consultant next Thursday with him deciding whether I need a colonoscopy. Doc said it was two week for a colonoscopy, but apparently in my area (North Bedfordshire) you see the consultant first, I suppose it makes sense, but I was hoping for a colonoscopy, still I might get that in the end. I would love to know if the acid reflex had anything to do with my bowel problem, the doctor said "no". Thanks for any thoughts. x

I think your doctor is wrong. I have had IBS for donkeys years! Started out as IBS(D) and is more IBS(M) now! But when it was IBS(D) it just went through me making my bowel sting like mad. But now it's a kind of mixture of consistencies, it gets backed up sometimes and that gives me problems up the top end, ie reflux and that sort of thing. So I would say your doctor is talking out of his arse as do most doctors, in my opinon!
