Mebeverine long term use

Hi all,

I was put on mebeverine mid last year and took it from about July- October - my doctor didn’t tell me about the two week use thing when you need it so I took 1/2 tablets a day as I felt that was what I needed

I recently rediscovered it this year and have been using it for the past week and seen an improvement in symptoms of IBS D. How long have people taken it and have they taken it constantly? I’d like to keep taking it as I don’t have to take imodium now but need some advice from the group xx

Hi, I’ve been on mebeverine for the past 3 I take 1 three times a day, I recently had a break from them as I had become constipated and now I only take them when I have a flare, but they were ok for me long term. Hope this helps

Hi my Gp put me on them wasn’t until I read leaflet said only take for 2weeks, so thank you for your question, I only take them when I’m so bloated that is painful, within an hour tummy gone right down, then take 3 times a day for a few days until I feel better. Find they really work for me.

I haven't used mebeverine many years now. Has little effect on me. Coolamon being peppermint gave me indigestion. I only use buscapam now. alverine citrate also helps but needs doctors prescription in UK for that

My doctor prescribed me this last week and I’m not sure if there’s any difference yet. Would love to hear some good stories about it!
