Can they test for ibs or ibd in other ways instead of a colonoscopy

Hi there i have had bad experiences with procedures like colonscopy had 3 exploratory procedures done for other problems explained to the dr and she sent me for ct scan which shows i have abnormal bowel i have said to her the only way i will get colonscopy is to go under full anaesthetic so she said she will let me know if this is going to happen as i do not want to wake up again during exploratory procedure being done

Hi..I worried about having a colonoscopy but with sedation it was ok..no reason to stress..hardly felt it was happening

Instead of a full colonoscopy, there is something called a CT virtual scan. They fill you up with gas and then they take pictures whilst you are lying on your back and on your front.

I suffer from severe anxiety and I’m on the asd spectrum and very anxious about hospitals and having stuff down. Has anyone had a high calprotectin level and lose mucus with it just being IBS

Hi Poppi,

I have all the same symptoms as you & hate & dread procedures. The last few months ive had a Sigmoidoscopy & Colonoscopy & MRI Proctogram. I was terrible with my anxiety & due to covid its much worse......they were so...kind at the hospital but i still hate it🤦‍♀️

Im awaiting biopsy results it looks like i have Microscopic Colitis im currently in bed after another dreadful night the pain is just incredible. Can i ask what your Calprotectin level is?
