I have always used Holland & Barrett Mega Acidophilus with pectin and I generally find it helps but still get pellet sized bowel movements and diarrhea occasionally. I also still get bloating (not always painful). So I have started also taking Optibac as well saccharomyces boulardii probiotic. Although it is for diarrhea I have read it can prevent diarrhea so thought it is worth a try. Does anyone else take a combination of probiotics? What mix do you find helps?

What probiotics do you use for IBS?
Something with bif lactis is is supposed to be good for constipation. Try looking at a multi formula Bio Kult I love but cannot have as got l.casei in - I am histamine intolerant so that strain is a no no which is a shame
I looked at that product but got put off as it contains milk and I potentially have an intolerance to cows milk 🙈 I may try it in the future though as it does have a lot of strains of good bacteria in
have a look at Biocare - also Optibac the highest strain probiotic is very good
Sometimes it is trial and error - I must have spent £100s on them had two cupboards full some agreed some made me ill
I have had great results from Alflorex probiotic which has been scientifically studied for IBS. If you join theibsnetwork.org for £24 for the year, you can get 2 months supply free, but you need to get in quick since the offer ends in a couple of days.
I actually joined two days ago, but not sure how I go about getting the Alflorex 🤷
On this web page: theibsnetwork.org/become-a-...
It says: receive 2 months Alflorex FREE- see T&C'S - details sent in welcome pack via 2nd class post of how to claim the offer
T&Cs: theibsnetwork.org/assets/fi...
The offer is due to end on Friday 28th August, but since you've already joined, I would have thought that would be OK.
In the welcome pack, they send you a link to the Precision Biotics (Aflorex supplier) website for you to register to receive your first month's supply. Towards the end of the first month Precision Biotics emails you asking you to call in and they ask you some questions about how you are getting on with it. Once you've spoken to them, they'll send you the next month's supply.
I read you use or did use s. boulardii. can you tell if it did alleviate your symptoms? I'm looking for a single strain probiotic and am currently taking b. coagulans for IBS related symptoms but read that for dysbiosis it might be better to try s. boulardii instead.
