For two days this spasmodic pain, sometimes sharp but fleeting, left side mid waist. I can eat, drink, am pooping great (which is unusual). I slept well. Today it started after I ate toast for breakfast. The pain is like a twitch that lasts only seconds, goes away and comes back, on and off. BTW, no doctor ever said IBS but I have every symptom. I have lived with the symptoms as long as I can remember. I am 64 and healthy. This pain is familiar but this is two days of it. Sound familiar to anyone?

Which country do you live in? In the UK there is a set protocol for diagnosing IBS using stool sample and blood tests:

You can ask to have these tests.
I can relate to what you say.My pain is in the same spot. There is no pattern to the duration though or severity. And I sometimes have other symptoms too.I'm awaiting a colonoscopy .The surgeon I saw suspects diverticulitis. My gp thinks IBS.Good luck. X
Yes, I have diverticulum but never before have been bothered and today the pain is gone! Can’t figure out the trigger. Will start to keep a food diary. Thank you so much for your reply.
