Improvement? IBS

I have lost my job during this pandemic and the future looks really uncertain. But for the first time my IBS symptoms have calmed down. It could be more time at home, or the fact that I am taking extra vitamins. I have not used an antidiarrheal tablet in weeks and I don't use the enzymes in capsules as much. However, pineapple is a staple in my diet.

My cramps are not that bad. Recently I had a little banana, oranges and granola with honey. But I am not testing my luck! I go daily but I have missed a day, more in tune when I have to go.

I m not so skinny and I have increased my meals.

On the mend but not being presumptuous.

We always recommend people keeping a wellness diary to identify their triggers as all to often people focus on food and look for triggers there when sometimes food isn't a trigger for them. Work, environment, stress, lifestyle can often be triggers for someone hence the reason of keeping a wellness diary. This makes you document everything and not just food.

What is does is highlights the triggers that we don't think are triggers as they may be the norm in our lives and we don't recognize them as causing us a problem. It sounds like there were some elements of your work that have been causing you stress and them in turn causing your symptoms. read our blog on our website re wellness diary theibsnetwork.org/blog/how-...

Good news, so pleased for you about your reduced symptoms. That is me also probably because of having toilet upstairs and not being anxious about finding one. Re your job new opportunities may arise once things get back to normality. Good luck

Hello , really sorry to hear that you have lost your job in these horrible times but so glad to hear that your symptoms have calmed down recently!

Stress is a trigger to IBS which may be why they have calmed down.

You may not have realised that you was stressed at work, it might not even of been the job that made you stressed but knowing that you are going to have to control and deal with your IBS on a daily basis whilst working can be stressful enough!

I hope this helps and helps with an explanation on maybe why your IBS had calmed.

Keep safe

Isn't that great news! So glad for you that it is under control. Stress to me is a huge contributory factor, even when I do not always recognise it.....as it has been recently. I hope it continues that way for you. Well done. I know how crucial jobs and survival are, but quality of life is just as important. Upwards and onwards.
