I have had one 3 years ago and am going to have another one soon. I was sedated. There is no way I could do this without sedation. It’s not a pleasant experience, the sedative relaxed e but I was still aware of what was going on. It was weird, not looking forward to having it again!

Yes had it and wasn't bad at all. No sedation on the advice of lovely nurses. Just a bit of spray to numb your throat and that was it all done and I was home within a couple of hours

Yes I have had two last year and had the spray first time as didn’t want to be there for too long, the beginning getting it in was a bit gaggy but once past that it was ok, the staff were all very friendly and encouraging and the more you relax the better! I also went for the spray the second time and it was the same not in as long as the first time. But if you are worried you should go for what helps you the most. Good luck hope it goes well.

I had one about 20 years ago under sedation and was absolutely fine.

I then had one 5 years ago but they couldn’t sedate me properly so I kept pulling it out even though I don’t remember doing it so it was a failed attempt.

I have just been put forward for another one which I will have again under sedation as I have a phobia of being sick and hope they can complete it thus time.

No one else I know has had this problem, the nurse said it was due to all the medication I am on stopping the sedative from working properly.

I had one in Canada 25 years ago. They said, “You’ll feel a slight discomfort at the back of your throat.” However, typical of the medical profession, the slight discomfort felt like choking, and of course I reacted instinctively, but within seconds I was sedated and felt nothing until I came to in a bed in the ward. If I were to have the same again I wouldn’t mind as long as I got the sedation. It’s not pleasant, but it’s not too bad.

Hi LEENOL48 , I had one done last year and had no problems whatsoever. I was sedated and honestly didn't feel a thing.

All the very best.
