Does anyone have extreme rectal sensitivity which drives them nuts??
Examinations have shown a small pile in the past but nothing else. I am at my wits end and feeling very silly (probably because my GP seems to think I am too).

If by that you mean can you feel everything sitting inside you shouting "I want to come out" then yes!
Yes it's horrible. I have had this for years with IBS. I understand it's normal to get signals that there's something needing to come out, when the rectum is full. But I get an intense pressure/pain feeling even with a bit of wind! It means I have to try and go 2-3 times a day because the feeling stays until I do. This is causing me to have piles now which make the sensitivity worse. I have seen two colorectal guys in the last two years and they just tell me it's a "functional bowel thing". I suppose it's nice to feel I am not alone with this - although I am sorry you have a similar issue!
I think you will find that most people with IBS have the same sort of thing. Does it give you nausea?
Yes it does - low level nausea and a feeling of being generally unwell. As with all IBS symptoms, some days are better/worse than others. I won't take amytriptyline which has been suggested by my GP over the years but am currently wondering about CBD oil.
I tried a low dose of amytriptyline some years back but it made me worse (more constipated) although my problem then was actually diarrhoea. I recently tried CBD oil, although I am not an expert on the stuff and just got some from Holland and Barrett but that tended to dry out my system and make me more constipated too!
Hello ..I suggest you see a dermatologist to check this area for any skin inflammation either ( bacterial or fungal) sometimes piles " Hemmoroides" or anal fissures can get inflamed and eventually be Overly sensitive which lead to these feelings ..this is what happened to me ..I first went to a surgeon who suggested a mini operation to fix the fissure ..but then i researched about this operation and the risks were scary " if the surgeon was not qualified and expert enough and cut the wrong nerves ..you might have bowel incontinence " !! So ..I decided not to do it and went to to a Dermatologist ..at the first sight she screamed and said " Oh my God this is Fungus !! ) she prescribed anti fungal pills and a local cream ..and from the second pill I was cured !! this issue was never brought up by the colorectal surgeon who examined me first !!
So ..may be your skin is so sensitive down there due to any type of inflammation " either bacterial or fungal " and the only doctor who can decide this is a professional dermatologist .
Hope you feel better soon 🌹
Thank you. I have had various different colorectal consultants take a look who all tell me this is a functional issue. This seems to me a catch all term for everything IBS and it is so frustrating.
I do know that visceral hypersensitivity is sometimes a symptom and that's what they tell me it is. I do think if there was any evidence of infection one of them would have noticed and this has been going on for 10 years! I just wondered whether anyone else had a similar issue.
I know that I tend to focus on a symptom and then it gets 100% worse!
