I have IBS and have always had problems having bowel movements I could be waiting a month or two at times. And when I do eventually go it is a struggle.
I always know when I'm constipated and need to use a laxative to help things along as my stomach gets bloated and feels real heavy and I'm uncomfortable.
My problem is I need excessive amounts of laxatives for them to make me have a bowel movement.
About two weeks ago I had a bowel movement using laxatives, I took half a big bottle of lactulose and two days later I still hadn't went to toilet so I had another quarter of a bottle which made me go.
Last Saturday I had 50mg of dulcolax and I never went to toilet so yesterday (Wednesday) I had another 50mg of dulcolax and it never worked either, so this morning I went to see my GP and she gave me miralax enema and that never worked either.
I was told if that didn't work I would have to go for an xray in A&E.
I have tried drinking more water, really strong coffee and hot water with lemon.
Is there anything else I can try that might help? I'm frightened of going to hospital as I don't know what will happen.
Has anyone else had the same? If so what happened.
I'm just worried about using all these laxatives and them building up in my body.
Please no nasty comments.
