Hi all

Just wondered if anyone has tried a product called Sense that's supposed to help with poor digestion and IBS? I've seen it advertised and was curious.

Thanks

Unfortunately made me worse, have you tried lepicol plus, I've had a fairly good 3 months (touch wood), now also restricted my coffees to 4, cut down sugar, no syrups and try to avoid onions

Looked up the product. This seeds are mentioned as helping the digestion being high in calcium. The article on this seeds stated the evidence is based only on animal tests. This makes me nervous as I was recently tested for food intolerances and some seeds may give rise to bowel problems. The ingredients and enzymes are not marked at point of sale. Considering the information concerning allergies this is an oversight by Boots who are selling this product with no background science or food tests in humans. Food intolerance tests have helped me so I have my life back. Coffee tea and chocolate can be trigger foods for the intestines along with cheese. I would ask for tests for food intolerances which are tested for on nhs including wheat for gluten, dairy and egg. It is a limited range of food tests so have had test through a pharmacy with finger prick test . My grandson had one aged ten with a finger prick smart test excellent help and links to nhs if necessary.

Thanks for your research I'm surprised there's no full list on the packaging I'll give this product a miss for now. I'll try and get a test for food intolerances.

Hi it's sold by Boots - Sense stomach powder I typed in. To be honest I think a lot of my trouble is psychological as I was suffering some discomfort this morning and once I got engrossed in looking for something hey presto, everything disappeared!!!

Hello

Thank you will take a look.

I am suffering with depression at the moment I have had 4 months of illness, cellulitis bursitis twice in the hip, then I had bowel problem so was sent for a 2 week referral CT colonoscopy, then the next day I had a severe kidney infection due to the laxative you take for colonoscopy, and then the waiting for results tipped me over the edge, they did come back clear just diverticulosis that I was told I had many years ago after colonoscopy.

I have had terrible digestive problems dreadful indigestion but I am on omeprazole 20mg morning and evening, and it seems to be a lot better.

Sorry you're suffering I can totally understand as you feel it will never end. Apart from anxiety I do have a hiatus hernia which really does not help especially if I put weight on. Good luck and I hope you find answers.

Hey Lancs Lass

Your situation does sound a bit like many in the HU groups. I have found that it is rare to find someone in the group who finds an off the shelf product that helps their IBS ongoing. People seem to use a few things when they are really bad - and who knows, that might just be placebo effect.

Personally I did two things. I did the fodmap diet, then personalised that so I only avoid the things that give me flare-ups. Even then I 'break my fodmap' here and there for a holiday or a night out. At least I am not surprised when the next day is a tough one.

Re your comment on stress. In the end I had to accept it was partly stress too. The thing with stress it is such a personal journey. Getting some exercise, spend time with friends, fresh air, read a book about something you're passionate about - avoid too much caffeine, alcohol, toxic people with their stresses ...

I am so much healthier now than I was 15 years ago (and IBS is better too!) and much of that is the stress learnings.

Hope you find a good solution to your situation, just keep in mind it's probably not on the shelf at Boots

Hi you're right it's a complex situation but I've had this for over 60 years and I'm at the end of my tether tbh and desperate to find something to help. I do, like you, and have a blow out now and again. At least we can support each other on here when times get a bit trying. Thanks for your reply and candour.

Yes the suport is what it's all about!

Think about it this way, the generations after us will have it easier. In our time GP's even doubted if IBS was an actual thing

Fodmap is only 10 years out there and even a good understanding of day to day stress amd health has not been around that long

Thanks for the reply, I enjoyed sharing!
