Nausea
I have days where I feel nauseated on and off. I may have stomach ache, may not. That's the thing with IBS, I can have so many symptoms that may be in any order.
Do you lose your appetite
If I have stomach ache with or without D, then I don't feel like eating. If I get a rumbly stomach, I know my body is telling me it's ok to eat again. So I may skip meals here and there.
With nausea, sometimes I lose my appetite. My nausea comes and goes. Once again sometimes I'll skip a meal, then eat when I feel a bit better.
Have you tried eating a small amount, when you feel nauseous? Sometimes that can actually help.
Thank you for replying. Haste you had all the tests. Endoscopy etc
Should say have you had all the tests
I haven't had any tests. I was more or less self diagnosed lol. I went to my GP with discomfort, suggested I had IBS after listing symptoms etc. and was told it sounded likely. I have had it for over 20 years, only started medication in 2016, as I was going away.
I get more symptoms when working, than I do when off. Plus I have linked anxiety.
I have the nausea and stomach pain from time to time a pop one or two Buscopan tablets, lay off the coffee and make sure I’m getting enough sleep. I tend to wear my trousers loose as a matter of habit since being diagnosed. I find food poisoning instantly triggers a bad four/five day illness and recovery period as can the unholy trinity of “risky” food to eat with IBS combined with lack of sleep and stress.
I'm exactly the same I have zero appetite right now and when I force myself to eat it makes me feel sick, I currently have chronic diarrhoea and go to the toilet 12 times a day sometimes, and it ends I don't want to eat to try help my symptoms but it doesn't make any difference
I saw a consultant yesterday and said I was loosing Wright as well and he said you need scans. Got a phone call today and having them tomorrow. So really in panic mode now.
Have you had any tests
I've had 2 blood tests and 3 stool samples done, My gp doesn't take me seriously as they are all normal just give me pills and tell me they'll work and then they don't, I got referred to gastrointestinal specialist but told its 3-6 month wait
I would pay if I was you and them they will do tests on nhs if you say you have no insurance.
Your feeling worse for eating, because your colon is full, so it can't work properly, when more and more food waste is blocking it's flow. If there's a blocked plug hole, you don't make it worse by blocking it up even more. You just need fluids, to get your bowel in motion. Adding more food, is just going to mean that it's going to take even longer. I'm not saying don't eat, but say if you have a meal while you're constipated, isn't such a good idea. I've had IBS-C since I was born, so I know a lot about it from experience. You get all sorts of people suggest the usual high fibre diet, etc, but we've all tried that before, and if that actually worked, we wouldn't still be getting the symptoms. I'd advise only eating light foods for now, while you're constipated. Yoghurt, soup, crackers, crisps, but please, no bread. That will just add to the blockage.
