Hi, I suddenly started to suffer profound nausea almost 2 years ago. It lasted for aprox 6 months until I went on the fodmap diet under a dietician and realised that it was dairy that caused it. The dairy alternative soya gave me a very upset stomach so I keep away from that. It was such a relief to get rid of the nausea I don't mind that I can't eat dairy! I hope you get to the root cause of the nausea soon as there is nothing worse!

How are you doing on fodmap,

Do you have anything instead of dairy or soya,

Thanks for your reply

I have rice milk instead of ordinary milk. I'm not on the fodmap diet anymore as by being on it, I discovered what the triggers for the nausea were. My diet is much more limited than it used to be but the nausea is gone (occasionally I will get it but that's probably to do with something I have eaten). It

Was such a relief to get rid of it. I lost a stone in weight at the time. Despite the fact I kept getting prescriptions for nausea I never took the tablets as I wanted to get rid of the underlying problem and the side effects make me feel unwell. Hope you getting somewhere with finding the problem and are feeling better....there is nothing worse than feeling constantly nauseated.

Lets hope I can find what triggers mine, maybe I should follow your lead, thanks so much for your reply

Junie

I have found activated charcoal to work sometimes, but a doctor told me not to take it too often because it can interfere with the absorption of nutrients. Also not eating when I have a flare up of IBS. I know that's hard to do if you have it most of the time.

My GP prescribed cyclizine which seem to be!p but they have side effects such as dry mouth, the info on this drug says it also causes urinary problems which I have but I don't think my urinary problems are due to this drug.I only take them when really necessary.I drink peppermint tea occasionally too.hope you find something that helps you.I haven't tried ginger myself but it could help

Yes I carry these little Chinese ginger candies in my bag and use when I need. Also drinking tea (see recipe on my website) helps a lot too. coconutandwhat.com all ingredients are cheap and easy to find

Just wondering if anyone has tried soda water for nausea- i always used it for morning sickness when pregnant. Wonder if it would work on 'normal' nausea.

Zofron is fantastic. I get it for severe sickness and it takes that awful self destructing nausea. I'm in bed for almost 5 yrs with M.E. & Fibromyalgia & IBS. I hope someone finds this helpful. Feel free to contact me.

God bless

Hi Junie - I have persistent nausea myself and find the following things really help:

- Mints (not sugar-free as the sugar alternatives can cause bloating)

- Chewing gum (same as above)

- Ginger tea, specifically the Lemon, Ginger and Manuka Honey tea by Pukka. It's a wonder!

- Silicolgel (about £6 from Holland & Barret)

- And, strangely enough, my nausea lifts a little when I put on some relaxing music and lie down/rest for a while. I suppose it's a kind of meditation! Read up on Mindfullness and relaxation techniques if you haven't already.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I use Sea Bands when the nausea is really bad, it seems to help a little. I tried Silicolgel but it gave me really bad D about 30 mins to an hour after taking. I too suffer from bouts of nausea on a daily basis but really struggling to understand the cause.

Hi. I know what it's like that awful sickness is unbearable. The only thing that STOPS mine is Zofron. U get it on script. Its fantastic. Some Drs don't want to give it to u because it's expensive but u ask for it. They give it to chemotherapy patients for the sickness. It will work. I was sick last night and the tablet stopped it.
