I hope someone can help me. I had suffered from severe IBS for the past 5 years. I can go for a few weeks without any symptoms and then can have a bad flare up which can last up to a couple of weeks. During the flare up I have stomach pain and pain on my left side and nausea.
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with constant nausea? I feel like I’ve tried everything from ginger tablets, lemon, peppermint, getting fresh air etc. I have also been taking Peptol Bismol but it doesn’t seem to make much difference My GP is reluctant to prescribe anti sickness tablets although I have taken Cyclizone in the past.
I have difficulty getting into a comfortable position because of the nausea so it is making getting any sleep very difficult.
Any advice would be gratefully received xx

Hi floss-12 I was given the same tablets as you, my sister is a nurse and asked my doctor to give me Ondansatron there very good for sickness but some doctors will not give them but demand them hope this helps.
Have you tried a PPI like omeprazole, lansoprazole? You need a prescription though, but you can buy esomeprazole over the counter. There is also something call silicol gel and you can buy it, it can be helpful for nausea and other IBS symptoms.
So sorry to hear how you are feeling. Is it making you anxious too as this can make it even worse? Nausea has affected me so much that I became too fearful to leave home. Eventually explained this to my GP who was sympathetic and let me have cyclizine, which works very well. I also find sips of pepsi or coke work, but not everyone recommends fizzy drinks.
Yes, I have anxiety aswel so it makes IBS much worse. I feel like it’s a vicious circle between my IBS and my anxiety. I have found having sips of fizzy drinks does ease it a little bit. Thanks for your help.
I feel your pain as I have it too..Anti nausea wristbands have helped me through some horrible bouts. I don't know if it really does anything or if it's just a placebo effect, but the whatever it is the end result has been quite helpful for me.
Thanks for your help. I’ve got some of those wrist bands. I have them on all the time! I’m not sure if they really work or whether I just think they do.
I went through something similar for several months, turned out my gallbladder was chronically inflamed and infected. I'd recommend asking your GP to refer you for tests. You could try hypnotherapy for anxiety, it's really effective.
