Newly Diagnosed ?

Hi I wonder if anyone can help. I’ve had a diagnosis over phone by triage nurse they and has given me a dr appointment 5 weeks time . She says IBS was probably th cause.

My symptoms are no better and are slightly worse. I get soft to watery diarrhoea every 2/3 days once or twice on that day, for nearly 6 weeks now with normal motions in between. I am bloated some of the time but no cramps or pain. Is this normal for IBS . Should I take anything to stop the diarrhoea or wait the 5 weeks until I see a Doctor.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Is this a GP appointment you've been offered? If so that is unacceptable. I don't believe any GP would come to a diagnosis of IBS after only 6 weeks of symptoms. Diarrhoea over that length of time needs investigating. If you are concerned and anxious about waiting so long for an appointment get in touch with the Practice Manager.

Thank you for your reply. I will ring the surgery again tomorrow.

Hi Oysterbay.

I'm sorry your going through such a hard time.

To be honest it's the first time I have ever heard of a nurse giving a diagnosis to a condition as serious as ibs, also I'm confused why she's made the appointment for you to see your doc in such a very long time away.

Can I recommend that you yourself ring your own family doctor and ask for a next nearest appointment an go chat with your doctor and they can put you through the proper channels as to getting a diagnosis when everything else is ruled out after investigation tests?.

I have IBS over 30 years now, an I also worked with lots of medical professionals in my line of business in the over ten years of holistic medical therapy who would of seen patients like ourselves and the advice they gave me was in days of severe diarrhoea, was to pour a mug of cold milk with a half teaspoon of black pepper and a small squeeze of lemon into a small pot. Do not use a microwave. The rays would only nuke the ingredients.

Boil the ingredients in a small pot. Sip it very slowly.

Keep your food intake to 5 very small portions of food throughout your day and try keep it to a high fiber diet.

Try drink a full glass of water shortly after your each meal or snack.

The method of 5 snack meals would be of a child portion, is that it will help your digestion system to digest an not cause diarrhoea an or constipation.

Will you please try get an a appointment with your family doctor so they can get you sorted an made comfortable?

Be well and keep strong dear friend.

Looking forward to your reply or private message here. 😇😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏🤗

Hi Thank you so much for kind reply. Since I last wrote my message I was taken in to a&e as an emergency with another problem that may also have something to do with diarrhoea I’ve been having or not 😫 So I’m now under the hospital and are having investigations. So far no diagnose but at least I don’t have to wait for th GP . But once again thank you so much for kind reply. Hopefully now one way or another I will find out what’s going.

Hi Keepstrong

Just to let you know finally I’ve spoken to a dr by phone and they are sending me for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Not having ever had either am beginning to panic. I know it’s for the right reasons but just find the idea scary. I won’t google anything though because I know there are more scare stories than helpful. At least hopefully I’ll get an answer. 😱

Hi dear friend. 🤗🤗🤗🤗😘 I'm so so happy you took my advice an spoke with your doctor.

As to gone for your camera tests. Yes it can be frightening for the first time having it done, but you are entitled to have your doctor give you something to calm you the nigh before and the morning of your camera test. And you can also inform the Nurses when you get there that can they please let your team know that you require extra sadation as your very anxious an frightened an that words of wisdom that you be okay is not going to make you feel any better. I know this fir fact that you can ask the team for extra sadation as my hubby too dose be very anxious when he has to go for his camera tests he has to have ever 5 years.

Also I myself asked too 3 years ago when having my one an they done it no problem, so just make sure to ask your family doctor to give you something take to calm you the night before an the morning of the camera test and when you get to the hospital just tell the nursing staff and the doctor who he doing the admission that you need extra sadation okay?. 🤗🤗🤗🤗😉😉😉 You be fine. You will sleep for a while in the recovery room an then they bring you back up to the day ward, let you sleep for 2 hours more then give you tea and toast, get you to use the bathroom to make sure your passing water okay then ring who ever is collecting you to come collect you. Don't worry if you can't pass water straight away sometimes the sadation puts the bladder asleep so all you do is run the tap or else if there is no tap there you take slow breaths in with your nose, gently massage upwards across over your pelvis from side to side an sigh out through your mouth. This will wake up your bladder for you. When you go home, take the painkillers that they recommend, drink plenty of water or better still put a jug of ice cubes an a drop of orenge juice into the jug an just a small bit of still water into your fridge the morning your gone so when you come home it be there fir you to sip glasses of the ice water juice through out your day but rest up as much as you can and sleep if possible so it will help the sadation wear off but also prevent you from being sore.

You will have tiny biopsies of tissues taken they always do but you won't notice it, just be careful lifting or stretching for a day or 2 afterwards.

I so hope this is of help dear friend and puts your mind at ease? 🤗🤗🤗🙏😉😉 And your totally right don't search the Internet for what's gone to happen as sole Web sites put the heart cross ways in you the way they exaggerate. Anyway you have all the information I just gave you not only from experience but also from when I was a nurse attended endent years ago and also a care assistant for over 20 years an would of attended to before and after their procedures. Bless them 😇🤗😊

Will you please keep me posted on how you get on? You can message me anytime okay? Wishing you lots of luck and wellness my friend. Hugs, comfort and light. Ce. 🤗🤗🤗 Be well and keep strong dear one. 💪😊🤗😇🙏

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply in such detail. You have really helped my anxieties. I’ve been driving my husband nuts with my worries . I will tell the nurses of my concerns and “terror”😫. But your reply is brilliant. I thank you again it’s so nice to talk with someone who knows. I will let you know how I get on . It’s next week so have a lovely week yourself and I will read your reply every time that cloud of worry descends. X

Ahhh please don't fret 🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗 you be fine. Just make sure you ring your doctor an ask for a prescription of something to calm you down the night before an of the morning of your camera test. An just focus on the fact that 5 hours after it you be back home safe and sound and wondering why where you so worried an it was the best sleep you had in a long time ⌚😂🤗🤗🤗

Rest well and keep in touch okay?. Sending you vibes of strength, healing hugs with comfort and light dear friend. Hugs Ce. Be strong and keep well 🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏
