Newly diagnosed

I was recently given a name for the group of symptoms that have been plaguing my life for many years. After a colonoscopy and gastro endoscopy the gastroenterologist confirmed that I am suffering from IBS-c. I was prescribed Constella (Linness ) 290 mg. I have only been on it for four days and am interested in how it is affecting others.

Hi there, welcome to the group. I was diagnosed back in 1996/7 after a bout of food poisoning and mainly had IBS C but my symptoms have changed now and I don't seem to have either C or D. My main symptoms are pain, bloating and sometimes nausea.

If I do get constipated I soak around a rounded dessertspoon of Linseeds in around a 3rd of a mug of water for an hour and drink, this works wonders for me but doesn't work for all, certainly worth a try. Sorry but I've never tried Constella.

I too get a lot of bloating and pain. I think if I could manage to get cleaned out it would help with that as well. I am very new to this diagnosis so I haven't figured out yet what sets it off.

I started some time back eliminating certain foods and that certainly helps a lot.

I am going to hold off on changing anything with my diet because I still need to go get bloodwork done for allergy tests. Wheat allergy is an issue in my family so the doctors want to make sure that is not creating some of the problem.

Ah, that makes perfect sense to me. I'm pretty sure I react to wheat as well so will be eliminating that from my diet.

Very best of luck to you.

I am taking it. I find it helps if I take close to food. It clears me out with a couple of hours. I take it in the evening as I work in the day. If I take it on an empty stomach, it doesn’t work as well. How do you take it and how is it with you?

I have been taking it as directed so about an hour before my first meal. I am not really finding that it is found a lot. Still unable to clear anything out.

I take it either in the morning or the evening but not necessarily around food but it still works for me. It's very gentle as well.

That was the same with me. Now I take it with food and start going about an hour or two later. It will be quite a few times. But I find it better that way as it does clear you out. Try it that way and let me know how it goes.

I am going to try that today. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know if it makes a difference.

I have been taking Constella for nine days now. The last three days I took the medication shortly before lunch and it finally worked. I was almost ready to give up but will stick with it for now. Thanks for the advice.
