I had my gallbladder removed last August. I have suffered with IBS for 20 odd years. Removing gallbladder made no difference to my IBS sadly but It did cure the pain and the weight loss of gallstones.

I had my gallbladder removed years ago, and I have chronic diarrhea. Have your doctor prescribe you any of these drugs! Welchol, Colestipol, and/or Questran. They are miracle drugs and stop chronic diarrhea in it's dirty little tracks! These are bile acid sequestrants and are just amazing! I had chronic diarrhea for years and could not leave my house before 1:00 in the afternoon, when finally (maybe!) I would be through with chronic diarrhea. Anyway, hope he/she will prescribe, because these are the only drugs I know of that really stop it.

I dont suffer with diarrhoea at all. Just stomach cramps from trapped wind and anxiety. The gallbladder seems to be a completely separate issue. they say I have alot of gallstones so they need to remove gallbladder. Im not happy about it but I have to trust the doctors know best

Sorry....I misunderstood your post! Once your gallbladder is removed, you may end up with chronic diarrhea....

Hi Rustyrose, I have just noticed this post from you from yesterday regarding gallbladder removal. The bile your body makes will just make it's way out of your body though your intestines and then to your bowel where it will give you diarrhoea. Have you never been offered a bile acid sequestrant (which sweetsusie mentions above). Look up Bile Acid Malabsorption. Feel free to come back to me on this if you want.
