Yes! However, I have both IBS-C and IBS-D and it seems to do the same to me during both kinds of flare-ups. It's a really weird position - one that my doctor wanted me to get a few tests done just in case since I did have my gallbladder removed- but, apparently it's possible! Especially if you have IBS-C and things get blocked up. I get trapped gas (sorry for the TMI) which then causes that pain (achy-sharp like I need to stretch or I sat/laid down wrong) and, sometimes, I can feel it move.
Have you been tested for gallbladder, liver, and pancreas problems, though? Those were the things I was tested for (minus gallbladder because I don't have one anymore) since you can also get pain through there from those organs.
Hi .. my pain started In my right rib area like a dull heavy ache. Had ultra sound showed gallstones. Had gallbladder removed. Now tested for bile salt malabsorption. The pain/ache is still there for two years now. I shouldn’t have to learn to live with it .. I am under gastric clinic everything comes back clear scans, camera, blood tests, which is all good. They think it may be a pain/ache that they never find answer to ( their words)..my advice get tested .. watch diet as that is usually the cause of many things.
Hi . Hope this helps. Do a search on google about hepatic flexture syndrome also splenic flexture syndrome . If pain is on right it’s hepatic. If left it’s splenic. Lots of folks on this forum have it , myself included. Take care .
Hi Bellacat 21.
So sorry to read your reply to wagtail 17.
It's so very uncomfortable what your going through.
I had very same only a lot more complex complacations and I too was told the same as you regarding that there may never be an explanation for the pain as real as it may be and even though there maybe even swelling.
But one thing I was told it's called by my gastroenterology consultant was and that's post opp complacation diverted Pain. It was 2 year's ago I had my gallbladder removed because of complacation of scar tissues after growing from my hysterectomy due to cancer at a young age and the scar tissues had actually strangulated my gallbladder. I never had one stone noting just the strangulation that caused my gallbladder to me non functional. So now I'm left seeing both a gastroenterologist and a gastroenterologist who gave me that dignoses of post opp complacation diverted Pain. The diverted Pain means the pain goes right under my ribcage andvintiy back at the very same location where the pain is in front and also the pain would get so bad I don't be able to breathe properly till the pain eases. All I can say to you is ask your doctor is it this condition an if so what antispasm medication can he/ she give you. I so hope this helps you. Keep well and be strong 🤗🤗🤗😇
Arh thank you so much for your advice. The pain/ache cane from nowhere I am relatively healthy, great diet so gallstones so shocked me. Also to be told got NAFL fatty liver. I am going to read through all the advice people have given, because you live with these aches and pains always second guessing and over thinking .. so it is very reassuring but sad how common my symptoms are for many people. But thank you again for your kind words and advice much appreciated
