Metrodizanole stopped ibs d
Hi, years ago when I used to get sinusitus quite a lot, I used to ask my GP for antibiotcs to clear it up. At that time they didn't seem to mind giving me a weeks worth now and again, but I found that it would generally give me a break from my IBS for a couple of weeks, if I was lucky.
Yes, had this also, after testing than was no infection there, but the symptoms from the giardiasis parasite stayed the same! Maybe that you have candida?
Could it be you have SIBO? I had a similar short term effect with antibiotics and have tested postive for SIBO. I am struggling to get anyone to recognise this on the nhs and get treatment for it.
I suffered with sibo for years undiagnosed I was prescribed metronidazole which cured it but Rifaxamin is great and has less detrimental side effects worth asking to try it
Thanks. Did you get it from your gp?
Yes, different condition, same effect. A year ago I had shingles and was given Aciclovir (an antiviral) fo the infection. My IBS symptoms cleared up dramatically and never came back as badly as previously. I still get occasional mild symptoms and unpredictable bm’s, but I guess everyone does from time to time. I have continued to pay attention to the FODMAP content of foods and either avoid beer or allow for mild problems the next day!
Metronidazole is used for gut problems like sibo which it's good at curing I've had it quite a few times but didn't see any significant changes in my ibs d metronidazole has serious side effects that causes irreversible nerve damage another alternative is Rifaxamin which did help my ibs d
Well maybe l have sibo as it made me better for a short time. I take probiotics do low god map plus anything else that might help. It’s a nightmare really what to try. How are you now mick
Tell your doctor to prescribe either Welchol or Colestipol for your diarrhea...both of these drugs stop it in its ugly tracks!
Also...not a good idea to take antibiotics long-term for anything other than infections...you'll create super bugs that cannot be killed by antibiotics...
Thanks for that do those meds stop the cramps as well?? I have a gastro app st hospital next week l will mention them.
For any one who saw my original post about blood test for ovarian cancer markers lve just been to see gp for results an everything fine thank god xxxx
Thanks Maureen xxxx
The problem u have is it can help symtoms for a while by killing some bad bacteria but it will also kill all good gut bacteria which will then have trouble re growing...as bad bacteria is stronger.
So ur symtoms will then reappear worse as u have a gut full of-bad bacteria.
This is what happened to me after years of antibiotics for sinuscitus...
I then started getting ill...
Had never had stomach problems before ...
i then had candida for months
